Alright, all said and done, no sun shots because its raining outside!!! I will get some more shots when I do back over there for another two day detail for this:
So here are the rest of the pics of the detail already done! This one took over 14 hours total exterior paint only, with a little bit of chrome work! Lots of oxidation, orange peel, scratches, swirls, chips, etc all over the car. i didn't do any wet sanding or touch up work as the car will be getting a new paint job coming in the next few months. This car will be in a photo shoot coming up, which is the reason for the detail. (same with the NOVA up top!) I didn't touch he wheels because they were recently spray painted to see what it would look like if powder coated black..looks good IMO. Since the wheels would be getting done, I didn't dress the tires either.
There were some trouble areas that were not going to come clean without a full sanding and re-chroming, so they were left alone (front end). My main goal was to get the paint looking the best I possibly could! That took 5 total steps (compound, light compound/heavy polish, polish, glaze, wax). Results were pretty good for the amount of orange peel in the paint (needed a full sanding to correct without OP). Some areas needed paint touch ups and a couple areas were already primed and ready for paint (I think to stop any rust from developing)
Process was the following:
Day ONE
ONR - 15 min
megs aggressive red clay with CG Luber - 60 min
PFW/105 - 3.5 hours
orange/SIP - 3.5 hours
Day TWO
white/megs 80 - 1.5 hours
green/DWG - 60 min
Fuzion by hand - 30 min
one grand chrome polish - 2 hours, also
M105/OHC/FPII on chrome via PC
megs glass cleaner - 10 min
megs supreme shine MF
costco MF
exceldetail WW towels
home depot grout sponge
Here are some pictures of how things looked before I got started:
And here are some split shots:
Here is what the car held onto after a wash - claying process really gets the nitty gritty stuff out of the paint:
Here is the wax curing on the car, notice the even spreading:
The chrome bumpers cleaned up, but scratches arent coming out of chrome! Once chrome is scratched, its generally safe to say they are staying scratched unless a re-dip happens!
The Roof was littered with glitter and gold flake - literally! This stuff was raised and could be felt with your hand, no polishing possible, just waxed!
