Talking Latest dealership recoveries *56K* never!

This story is a bit amusing—customer bought the car(she was already a customer of ours) new, but it had been on the lot for months. She saw a few spots and wanted them taken care of—she *insisted* that they not buff, which they agreed to. When she took delivery of the car she saw the holograms and drove straight to our shop.

I do the detail, they call me and inquire about my process at which point they tell me how they have been doing this for 20+ years and never heard of anyone charging that much for a “cut and buff” (lol). So after I carefully explain to them that I don’t care, they agree to pay me—she was going to pay if they didn’t.

We fixed it with a bit of M105/FPII on the flex, it is sealed with UPP.

After—sorry no full shots of the car, it was a CL550 with the AMG package.

Re: Latest dealership recoveries *56K* never!

This G35 has a story behind it as well—I just love dealerships. Gentlemen has been a customer of ours for quite sometime. He is flagged in the computer as a “do not wash customer.” The service advisor specifically asks the gentlemen if he is sure that he doesn’t want the car washed—he emphatically says “no.” The customer walks outside to take delivery and of course some guy is wiping the car down with a chamois. According to the guy they rinsed the car, realized that it wasn’t to be washed, and began wiping it down.

The short story is that they insisted that they could fix it, he gave them the chance under the condition that if they couldn’t recondition it to his liking then it would come to us.

I will let the pictures do the talking for the work.

This is before we got all of the “oils” off:

After washing with a strong detergent to remove the fillers:

Here are the afters—we used M105/orange pad/flex, followed by FPII/red LC CCS pad, and finally sealed with UPP.

Re: Latest dealership recoveries *56K* never!

I would totally snap if I bought a new vehicle and on delivery it looked like that. I was actually very lucky. I bought an 04' Titan (Silver) and an 08' Saturn Sky (Black) and both were delivered in pristine shape!

Anyway, great turn around.

Nice work as usual. Dealerships sure have communication issues don't they?

Great work as always Joe!!!

I have a dealer correction coming up as well in a few weeks on a black M35. The client had to raise hell with the GM, but they are paying the full bill.

I love hacks, they keep us all in business.

Awesome recoveries Joe. I hope the clients took the car back to the dealership to show the "proper" way the car should have been done.

Great detail, Great Car, Great Job! Now if only I could meet the person who puts a pinstripe on a $40,000 car in 2009...

Nice recovery again Joe. You've gotta love it when untrained people attack black vehicles with a rotary!
