Resto-mod 572 1967 Chevelle ala Picus.

Hey folks, it's been awhile since I posted a c&b, I have something like 60 cars backed up and wanted to start with this one since I promised the owner I'd post it asap! This car is from the same owner as the 427 big block corvette I did last year. I'll also be sanding/compounding restored 1969 camaro soon too!

This particular Chevelle has a 572 chevy big block and sounds amazing. I wish I had a clip of it. It was painted in the U.S some time ago before the owner purchased it. It was then resto-modded locally, so the paint needed some work. It had been sanded previously, so I was just there to compound out some of the RIDs and swirls it had accumulated.

Process was:

M105 via PWF @ 1800
M105 via LC White @ 1600
SIP via LC white @ 1200-1600
FPII via LC blue @ ~1000-1400

I probably could have gone from 105 on a white to 106ff/black or something, but the paint was finicky and I wanted it as glossy as possible. Even SIP left some very light hologramming when broken down to 1200 rpm or even less so I just went over it slowly with FPII/blue until it was halo free, which took some time.

The damage in the before pics doesn't look bad; in fact it wasn't that bad but the rids required some sanding/chasing.

A pretty typical shot of the marring below. You can see more on the page that documents the restoration here.

RID on the rear quarter required filling & sanding.

the hood was tricky, a few rids wouldn't come out but overall 99% better.

Here's an outdoor before/after on the trunk; which was probably the worst area aside from the area near the door handles.

Glamour shots!

Wow, that is incredible! Very cool car as well. I'm sure the owner was very happy to say the least.

Sounds something like this:

it's loud, it's awesome. I love it. You can feel the exhaust hitting your legs a good 6 feet away, haha.

thanks fellas.
