Here is another red TA that I did. This one is after I had some good rotary experience under my belt. Customer only wanted me to do 2 passes, but the swirls were extreme. Said we would get most of the swirls out with the wool pad then a polishing pad, but it would sacrifice a little gloss. They were ok with that. This was also my first attempt at finishing with a rotary. The clear was hard enough that only minor holograms were left behind and the customer couldn't see them even when I pointed them out. I don't leave a car with holograms, but the customer didn't have time to let me do more work on it. But at the end of the day customer was happy so thats good.
It had pretty bad waterspots and swirl marks. I used the Meguiars W4 wool pad and #85 (have not been that happy with it, but love the #105) followed by yellow pad and Megs #80 both on the rotary. Of course it was finished off with some Zaino too
Before:
*notice the faded Trans Am and Bird. We decided to remove them entirely for a fresh look*
Nice job, but I would have went the D/A finishing route and finish 100% hologram free....
I would have preferred to set myself apart from the hacks that do leave holograms behind....food for thought
Well the customer is a close friend, and I've done all their cars. This was the first one that I did any paint correction on though. The holograms do bug me, but they did sell the car not long after, so oh well.
I tried to use the PC but it just didn't have enough cut (before I got Menz and small pads) to take out the wool marks. They really only wanted me to give the car 1 pass, but I couldn't allow that given the state it was in! lol. So that 2nd pass had to do. Like i said, it wasn't ideal, but they were thrilled with it.
