This Teutonic beauty was my last official detail in '08 (finished about 4:30 yesterday) and the first '09 model year vehicle I've detailed. I hope it serves as an omen for good tidings in 2009!!!
I've been blessed to detail some beautiful cars since I started my business in '01. Everything from stroked and blown race cars to wild exotics and I have to say...this Audi made my pulse quicken. It's no where near the fastest nor the most expensive super car out there but to me it is just a flawless execution of style, power and class. The lines of the R8 are just beautiful to my eye. Taught and clean with nothing screaming at you. The interior is a perfect blend of form and function and I could easily spend lots of time in there without discomfort. Perhaps I am starting to show my age but the simplicity of this car is its beauty.. Then again...this car has the winning formula for me: German built V8 + silver paint = Happy 1 Clean WS6.
Power for this Audi comes in the form of a mid-engined 4.2L V8. It has a rear biased Quattro AWD system and a six speed manual transmission. It is rated at 420hp and 317ft-lbs to the crank and is capable of propelling the car to a 12.6 @ 113 in the 1320. From what I've read the 2010 R8 will be powered by a 5.2L V10 which should bring the performance of the car into a whole other realm!
This particular R8 is brand spanking new with just 240 miles on the odo. It had not been touched since delivery and was in great shape. Below is a description of process and products used for the detail. I truly apologize for the poor lighting but it is that time of year when the sun is on its way out by the time I finish.

Wash with Zaino's Z-7.
Clay with Zaino's Z-18 clay bar using
Meg's #34 as a lube. This step really wasn't needed but I'm a bit OCD when applying Zaino for the first time and just can't get myself to skip this process.
Polish with Zaino's ZPC using a LC white pad and my
Flex set at 3-6.
Seal with ZFX'd Zaino Z-2Pro x's 3 using a 314 applicator. I applied a Z-6 wipe down in between each layer and performed a final wipe down with Z-8.
