Mazda 6 and the search for clairty

About a couple of weeks ago we got a call about a metallic grey Mazda 6 that had an issue with acid rain on the hood, roof and trunk lid. When the gentleman brought the car over to the shop, the car was sporting the Zaino shine, so I knew that this person must have tried almost everything that they could to get rid of the acid rain.

As we further discussed options we arranged a date to begin working on his issue. When we did start the work, it was found that the rain had deeply etched the areas and there was nothing else that we could do other than to 3-step (Compound, Polish, and Re-Apply Zaino). This would help to improve the clarity of the paint, by removing the surface scratches as well as leveling some of the badly etched areas.

The final results showed an improvement that the customer was happy with. It was a pleasure to have someone have the understanding, where they saw the difference. It was not a drastic "jaw dropper", but more of an appreciation for the subtleties that detailers deal with every day that make a good detail, great.

I really did not get good pics of the overall job. The Acid rain etching really did not show up well in the pics I took.

The process was #105 and PFW wool at 1500 rpm followed up with a Optimum Polish on a green pad at 1500/1200/900. The PTG was giving me readings between 88- 94 microns.
