Z06, VW Beetle, X5, Pre-Runner, E350

2006 Chevy Corvette Z06. Been taking care of it since new. Last polished in April 2007. Yes, that's right, 19 months ago. Washed with ONR monthly (the owner may use some Meguiars Ultimate QD on it in between if it gets dusty) and waxed at least every other month.

I have nothing to do with how the owner has chosen to decorate his car, so please, I don't want to hear any comments about it.

So what's the problem? Roof delamination for the 2nd time. Took it to the dealer to have it fixed again and they didn't do a very good job polishing it or removing overspray from it or the hood.

After an ONR wash and Meguiars white (consumer) clay:

All taped up:

2 passed with Meguiars #105 using a Meguiars yellow 8006 polishing pad at 1400-1600 rpm, finishing at 1000 rpms...notice the lack of holograms!

A 3rd pass:

Took 5 passes total to get the scratches out...swirls were pretty much 98% gone by the 3rd pass. You can see (if you look close) how it compares to the driver's side which I hadn't yet polished).

I followed with 3M Ultrafina using another 8006 Meguiars polishing pad, then again with the blue Ultrafina pad, both at 1000-1800-1000 rpms.

Finished the car off with Wolfgang Fuzion:

I love the rims, Definitely in great shape for only being polished once in the last 19 months! Great job as usual with the polishing Scott.

Re: Z06, VW Beetle, X5, Pre-Runner, E350

2007 Volkswagen New Beetle. Regular customer, she has me wax it every 3-4 months. Needed a little polishing this time but nothing major. Used Meguiars #151 PRC with a yellow Meguiars 8006 polishing pad via UDM. Really did a nice job, let a very wet finish and knocked out about 85-90% of the light swirls (the owner isn't interested in perfection, the car sits out all day at her office) and left the paint very slick. I finished it off with Migliore Frutta Wax, which leaves a very deep gloss on light colors. Removal isn't as easy as most waxes, you typically have to go back again to make sure there is no smearing. Gave the paint a light spritz and wipedown with Optimum Instant Detailer just to be sure I got all the excess off. Kind of a PITA, but it really is a good looking wax.

==========

2007 Mercedes E350. Did this car when I detailed the Challenger yesterday. I had washed and lightly clayed it in the sun (ONR and Meguiars white clay) and was pleased it was swirl free. CeramiClear paint when cared for stays swirl free for quite a while. By the time I had grabbed lunch after washing and claying, and then polished and sealed it, the only sun left was across the street. Pictures are a bit dark as a result. Every setting I tried seemed to make the paint look too dark.

Anyway, Optimum Poli-Seal via UDM using a white LC polishing pad, followed by Opti-Seal. I then vacuumed it, did the glass, etc and then went over the whole car with Optimum Car Wax.

The rims are really nice, I believe the color is the metallic black that BMW uses. He has another set with Hoosiers mounted on them since he auto-crosses the car. In addition, it has headers, cold air, exhaust w/x-pipe, extrude honed intake manifold and has been tuned. Put down 562 hp at the wheels.

Re: Z06, VW Beetle, X5, Pre-Runner, E350

A couple of easy ones, an '05 BMW X5 and '06 Toyota PreRunner. The owners go with their Dad to home Cowboy's games and he has them cleaned while they are at the game. Just ONR washes followed by OID.

I had sealed with X5 with Opti-Seal a few months back, this is the first time I've cleaned the PreRunner.

....and a few shots of my car, both sun and shade with Fuzion.

Scott, you detail out of a Maxima? If you don't mind me asking, what exactly do you carry with you to jobs? Equipment, products?

I think your car looks the best. The exhaust tips are near perfect.

I carry a Rigid 4050 vacuum + attachments, Dewalt rotary, UDM, 100' and 50' extension cords, 4 gallon water container, about 30 assorted pads, around 100 or so MFs (have around 350 total), 25-30 terry cloth towels for grunge work, mostly Optimum (Poli-Seal, OP, OC, OHC) and Meguiars (#80, #83, #105, #151) polishes and compounds, RMG, Pink Moose, CMW, Opti-Seal, OCW, ONR, #16, Souveran, Paste Glaze, Migliore Fine Wax and Frutta, Fuzion, Armor All, PB's Natural Look, OPP, Leather Vital, Biokleen TLC, Woolite (both straight and mixed in a bottle), Optimum Power Clean, Quikshine, OID, clay (both Meguiars and Clay Magic), 3M Ultrafina, NXT2, tape, razor blades, Unigrit wetsanding paper, assorted brushes, wash pads and at least a few things I am forgetting.

MASKDMARVL Thanks! The shop I had do the tips (the exhaust is otherwise stock and QUIET) does absolutely first rate work. I couldn't have been more pleased with the job they did.

However....if you saw my paint in the full sun on the other hand...

I polished it out when I first got it last November, got it about 85-90% swirl free and other than taking care of some holograms (from whoever detailed it before me) on the hood I missed, just been washing and waxing it. Maybe some time this winter I will go nuts on it. Maybe.
