Is350, Z06

2007 Lexus IS350. The owner lurks on Autopia and takes great care of his car. Unfortunately, he broke his leg wakeboarding and has been unable to do much more than a basic wash. He wanted it clayed, light polish and waxed. He had driven through a cloud of cement from a bag that fell off a truck and there were specs all over the front end. An ONR wash and Meguiars white clay took care of it, really wasn't stuck on the paint very hard-probably because the owner had kept up his finish so well.

The sun was in and out (mostly out) during the detail but I was able to see the paint was probably 95% swirl free. I went over the car with my Pink Moose Plus using a yellow Meguiars polishing pad via UDM, the waxed with Wolfgang Fuzion.

There really wasn't a good place to take pictures, there are huge trees all around so the sunlight was filtering through. Nowhere to get full sun or full shade for consistant lighting. The owner said he'd move it to another location later in the day to get some pictures and he'd send them to me. When he does, I'll post them up.

Re: Is350, Z06

2009 Chevy Corvette Z06. Owner bought it a few months ago, did not allow the dealer to prep it-not even a wash. He has been traveling a lot so it took some time to set up an appointment for the detail. Had a real nice area to work on the car. The apartment complex the owner lives in has a wash bay, ample electrical outlets and even a vacuum like at a regular coin-op. However, I chose to use my own vacuum rather than feed the available vacuum with quarters.

Overall the car was in pretty good shape, but there were a few stray light holograms so I guess someone did some buffing prior to it arriving at the dealer. Had some tiny white specs on the front driver's side too. As with the Lexus, ONR and clay did the trick. I taped off the car, then buffed it out with 3M Ultrafina using a blue Ultrafina pad @ 1000-1800-1000 rpms. Removed the stray light holograms and added some nice depth. I then went over the car with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose. The interior was pretty mint, so just a vacuum and Meguiars Interior QD.

Some thin high clouds were rolling in and the sun wasn't at the best angle but I got what sun shots I could after polishing:

By the time I finished polishing and waxing, it was getting pretty close to sunset, which makes for very nice pictures.

Love the redesigned wheels, so much easier to clean, you actually have room to get your hand in behind each spoke.

Pat yourself on the back for outstanding final product presentations. The “Golden Hour” before sunset really makes for great reflections, pools of liquid colors, and your creativity capturing these reflections are eye candy to me.

That Z06 looks like sex on wheels. Great job and those new rims are real nice.
