1999 Corvette Convertible-black, of course

1999 Chevy Corvette. 1 owner car, less than 20,000 actual miles. Never been deep polished so it had the typical swirls and scattered etching from some unknown substance on the rear deck. I tried to get a couple shots of the etching but it didn't show up in the pictures. You can really only see it under fluorescent lighting. I used Meguiars 2000 Unigrit paper.

I then polished it out (took 3-4 passes each section) with Meguiars #105 and a white foamed wool pad. Also tried a Meguiars yellow Solo wool pad with similar results.

A few before shots, pretty much the whole car was like this:

Meguiars #105 with a white foamed wool pad @ 1000-1400 rpm. Sure was making the paint ugly but it was cutting out the defects.

I then stepped down to Meguiars #105 cut 50/50 with Optimum Compound using a Meguiars polishing pad @ 1000-1400 rpm.

I then went over the whole car with Optimum Compound using a blue Propel finishing pad at 1000-1200 rpm which cut down the holograms to a minimum.

Next step was 3M Ultrafina using a Meguiars polishing pad, spread on 1000 rpm, work in for several passes at 1800-2000 rpm, then finishing at 1000 rpm. You can see some products smearing from wiping it off in the sun.

A few whole car shots after this step.

More smearing....

I backed the car into the warehouse and washed it with Optimum No Rinse. I then went over the whole car with 3M Ultrafina again, this time using the blue Ultrafina waffle pad, 1000-1800-1000 rpms.

Excuse the dust, streaks and splatter, I wanted to get some sun shots before the sun dropped too low.

Another ONR wash followed by Clearkote's Carnauba Moose (yes, I did get the dust around the front plate blockoff, the sun was setting fast):

Thought this shot came out really well

Didn't do anything to the engine but you post a Corvette, you have to post an engine shot, amirite? Just bolt-ons, headers, cold air intake and exhaust.

Bonus car!

2008 BMW 335i. Polished and waxed it in June, ONR wash it nearly every week so the paint still looked good. Tossed on a coat of Wolfgang Fuzion.

Looks great Scott. Is white foamed wool an LC product?

Re: 1999 Corvette Convertible-black, of course

alright, i guess i'm the first one to notice. What's up with the 6 exhaust tips? I've never seen an exhaust manufacturer make a 6-tip exhaust for a C5 vette.
