2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe. Overall in good shape, the paint had been wetsanded and buffed out back in April but now had some minor cobwebbing.
Washed the car with Optimum No Rinse and clayed with
Clay Magic Blue. Tires/fenderwells dressed with Armor All.
Not easy to capture light swirls on pearl paint!
I started off with the new version of Optimum Polish via rotary but I was having problems with the pad hopping. Not sure why but the paint on this car felt very grabby. First time I've had a problem with it. Couldn't have been too hot, only in the 70s and the paint only felt warm to the touch. Besides, I've used the new OP on red paint on a 90 degree day in the full sun. Had the same problem with the original OP on a black Honda a while back with the Cyclo. Same deal. Hopping, skipping, grabbing. Anyway, what worked that time did this time as well.
Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze (used #83 on the Honda). Maybe the extra oils help on grabby paint, I don't know.
Anyway, #80 using a yellow
Meguiars polishing pad @ 1200-1400 rpms, finishing at 1000.
These shots were taken a good 30 minutes after polishing with #80, which helps with any oils that might be filling. Letting the paint sit in the sun after using #80 showed only faint holograms and no more cobwebbing.
Gloss level after #80 only.
I followed with 3M Ultrafina using a blue Ultrafina pad, 1000-1800-1000 rpms.
Gloss in the sun after all polishing but prior to wax.
I sealed the car with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose and polished the chrome grill with Optimum Metal Polish.
That is the owner you see reflected in the rear bumper...
