2004 BMW 745li Toledo Blue Metallic

2004 BMW 745li Toledo Blue Metallic w/ 70k miles. Client just purchased it a month ago. This was an exterior detail only.

The place where I did the detail was a large truck (tractor trailer) repair center. After a 95 mile drive I arrived at 7:30am to find that I had a nice size wash bay to myself. 8)

The client had told me that he had a body shop buff out a scratch on the hood, he sent me this pic:

A few before shots:

Everything was rinsed off.
Wheels had P21s wheel cleaning gel applied and let dwell
Car was wash using the Auto Inter ABC paint decontamination system.
Tires and wells cleaned with AM red hot APC and a few brushes.
I then scrubbed the wheels w/ various wheel brushes, these 20s took an hour to clean all four.
Rinsed everything off again.
Clayed with zaino clay.

I started on the hood where the body shop had left a nice mess when they attacked the scratch with a wool pad and I don't even want to know what grit of polish they used.

I started out with SIP/green german CCS/Mikata 1600. A few applications had removed the holograms but did nothing for the deep wool marks that the body shop hacks left in the paint.

I then used a PFW pad w/ 3M ECC at 1600. Two applications had removed the deep wool mess.

I followed w/ SIP/green german CCS/Mikata 1600 worked for 2-3 mins.

The rest of the paint was covered in RIDS.

PFW pad w/ 3M ECC at 1600 x3 would only get them about 50% out.

So I tried the Edge yellow wool 3M ECC at 1700 x3-4 and that removed the RIDS.

I followed with Green edge wool/Presta 1500 at 1500

SIP/green german CCS/1600

By 3pm I was about half way done with the compounding. Bret stopped by to see how things where going. He decided to stay a while and help out.

So I did the wool compounding and Bret followed with SIP and did a final polish with ZPC via PC and a green german pad.

We gave the car a wipedown with Z6 a few fluffy MFs.

While I applied the Z2pro, Bret applied Z-16 to the tires and applied ZAIO to the wheels.

The paint and glass got:

2x of Zaino Z2pro w/ ZFX.
Z8

Here are a few action shots...

Bret removing the zaino Z2pro with his patented two fisted technique.

Here I am buffing off some Z8:

Final pics just before the security guy kicked us out at 8pm:

Total of 16 man hours.

Lucky for guys like us that bodyshop personnel haven't yet figured out how to use a buffer. Sure does generate a lot of business for Autopians. Great Job!!!

Looks like you might want to add some M105 to your arsenal...might have saved some serious time there

Very nice work though!

Outstanding as always, Bryan. Amazing gloss and wetness, looks absolutely beautiful.

Love that color too, I don't recall seeing another 7 with it. Do you know how common (or rare) that color is?

Thank you Lumadar! I have M105 on hand but find myself reaching for 3M ECC on cars with deeper RIDS.

Amazing work Bryan and Bret!

That was the exact same color of the one I did last year. It is a rare color.
