'08 Lexus IS250, Z06, Maxima

2006 Chevy Corvette Z06. Garage queen that actually sees track time. He has a set of Hoosiers mounted on another set of identical wheels. Wash his vehicles once a month, usually has me wax the Z06. ONR wash and Wolfgang Fuzion wax. Only a couple pics, no good place to move the car to at the time.

============

My 2002 Nissan Maxima SE with Migliore Frutta Paste Wax. Nice looking wax but not that easy to work with, has to go on whisper thin or you can having some smearing issues. Had to go over a couple areas with Quikshine.

Re: '08 Lexus IS250, Z06, Maxima

2008 Lexus IS250. Customer found me online and after we traded a few calls and e-mails, set up this past Sunday to detai his car. I could see when he pulled up that there were a lot of drying streaks on the sides of the car. He said he's been using terry cloth towels but recently purchased some MF towels after doing some research online. The car hadn't been washed in a while, had water spots from sprinklers on the front end, a few bird bombs, etc.

I cleaned and dressed the tires and fenderwells (dressed with Armor All) and then washed the car with Optimum No Rinse, claying as I went around the car. Other than the hood and front fenders with the water spots, the clay didn't pull up all that much.

Washed and clayed. I think you can see why after I clay and wash with ONR that people think I've waxed their car.

The sun finally came back out so I could get a good look at the paint...

Luckily, only the hood was real bad, the rest of the car had maybe half the swirling, other than the roof which had holograms from when hail damage was fixed.

I initially started with the new version of Optimum Polish but the hood needed Meguiars #105 to remove the spider swirling. This is after a couple passes of #105 with a yellow Meguiars polishing pad at 1000-1200 rpm.

Took a total of 4 passes with #105 to remove the very stubborn swirls. I then followed with the new Optimum Polish, again with a yellow Meguiars polishing pad at 1500 rpm, slowing down to 1000 rpm to finish out.

Like I mentioned earlier, the rest of the car wasn't nearly as swirled as the hood, so the Optimum Polish step worked great.

Those are not holograms in the upper left hand corner of the trunk lid, but polish I didn't wipe completely away.

At this point, the paint was 95-98% swirl free all over the car with a few very faint rotary holograms left behind. I then went with 3M Ultrafina using a blue Ultrafina pad at 1000-1800-1000 rpms. I thought I took more shots after this step but I guess this is the only one. Most of the car was in the shade by this time anyway since it was nearly 4 PM (started at 10 AM).

Interior carpet was cleaned with BioKleen Traffic Lane Cleaner, leather and vinyl with Woolite (HE version) and water @ 20:1 dillution (HE version is concentrated). Leather dressed with Leather Master's Leather Vital and vinyl with Optimum Protectant Plus.

I finished the paint off with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax, glass cleaned in and out with Clearkote's Quikshine. Exhaust tips polished with Optimum Metal Polish.

Since I knew y'all would hunt me down and kill me for not posting sun shots of the car in it's entirety....

Those vinyls on the Z06 are horrific.

Beautiful Job on the details though!

The paint on that Lexus looks incredible. What a great color to show off your work with. Nice work on all of them Scott.

I believe it is. You might want to order directly from Optimum to be sure you get the new version. It is a lot thicker than the old one. Definitely has more cut.
