2008 Black Infiniti G37S - Only 3 months old and Swirled up already!

Car was bought in early May of this year so it was a little over 3 months old. From my past experience with this G37 in black, I knew to expect some swirling but wow, I must say that this has been the most swirled up car I have worked on and it was only 3 months old.

Apparently it was taken to another detailer when it was first bought and apparently did not do a good job. I figured it was clayed but it was full of bonded contaminants. So on with the process:

Wheels, Wheel Wells, Tires
Pressure Wash rinse
Meguiars APC+ on wells and tires
P21s Gel Wheel Cleaner on wheels
Tire Brush
Wheel Brush

Wash & Dry
Pressure Wash Pre-Rinse
Foam Cannon Pre-Wash
P21S Total Auto Wash Citrus Degreaser
2 Bucket Method /w Grit Guard and Genuine Lambswool Mitts
Sheet water with hose - makes drying easier as there is less water on the car afterwards
Microfiber Waffle Weave Towels

Clay
Chemical Guys Gray Clay
Optimum No Rinse QD strength
Foam cannoned the car again to remove leftover contaminants

Paint Correction
Makita 9227C Rotary Polisher
Menzerna Super Intensive Polish PO83rd
Menzerna PO106ff Polish
Lake Country 6.5" Orange Pad
Lake Country 6.5" White Pad
Cyclo 4" Green Pad
Cyclo 4" Orange Pad
IPA Wipedown on all panels

Trim
Black Wow for plastic trim
303 Aerospace Protectant for rubber weather stripping

Interior
Rigid 5.5 hp shop vac
303 Aerospace Protectant
Prima Nero

LSP

Zaino Z5 Pro with ZFX accerlator - 2 coats
Zaino Z6 QD spray in between coats
Zaino Z8 Grande Finale - Final Wipedown

Before Pics taken right when car was dropped off

Products used for wheels, tires, and wells

Getting the foaming trigger for the APC really does help its cleaning power. Notice the brown tire gunk coming off.

Rinsing off with pressure washer

Can't forget the wheel wells. Wells were sprayed with APC first and left to dwell for 5 minutes.

Foam Cannon Pre-wash

After Claying half of the trunk lid

After Claying quarter of the hood

Now let's see what she looks like after everything has been stripped off.

Swirls, Buffer Trails, water spots...you name it...its on there

Front Fender

Trunk Lid

Rear Quarter Panel

Remember, this is only 3 months old....One of my fav shots to show how bad the condition was....:eek3:

Car is prepped for polishing. I raised the hood to allow better access to the edges without fear of burning the paint on the fenders

I proceeded to tape off the emblem and lettering after the photo was taken.

Ok now onto the 50/50s...

Hood 50/50s

Trunk Lid 50/50s

Polishing the other side with Menz SIP and Orange Pad...I tape over the edge of uneven surfaces such as the rear wing to protect the edge from being burned by the rotary.

Scuff on the rear bumper

Scuff is removed

Deep scratches on the rear bumper

Scratch on left was removed but scratch on the right was too deep to completely polish out without removing alot of clear coat. It needed to be touched up and wet sanded to be fully removed.

Front fender before shots

Paint looked gray from all the swirling

Taped off and ready for 50/50. Photo taken accenting only blue.

Another photo highlighting red

Polishing out the fender.

fender 50/50s

Close-up 50/50 of fender

Inspecting my work after IPA wipedown

Fender completed

Noticed the nice lighting reflecting off the tarp so I took some photos

Damn that Infiniti looks awesome!

I love the 50/50's. Looks like you just peeled a layer of clear coat off perfectly.

Keep up the great work!

Nice work, and good documentation too. Very candid photography, I like that.

Great work, and nice job on the documentation. Those cars get in bad shape quite easily, but they look incredible when they're properly polished like that one is now.
