Honda Civic

This customer came to me from Yelp.com. She had done some research there and here on Autopia and gave me a call!! Very nice person and a real pleasure to talk to!

She had been dealing with water spots for a while now and had tried to remove them from the windshield with the scratchy side of a sponge. It removed them for a while but left the glass scratched. I was able to get the water spots out but not the scratches.

There were some water spots on the paint as well which were removed with no problems. This was an exterior only detail so I was able to concentrate on just the paint and the glass.

Process:

Wheels
Megs WB
EZ Detail brush
Topped w/AW
Tires
Megs DG
Topped w/Megs HD
Paint
Wash w/Dawn ( I just bought the M32 kit from Auto International and have NO idea why I didn't use it on this car. It would have been perfect for the water spots)
Some wetsanding was necessary
Polish w/Secret Sauce on PFW
Finished down w/KAIO on white CCS
Topped w/#16
Glass
Polished w/KAIO
Stubborn spots got Driven to Perfection Water Spot Remover
Topped w/OS

This sticker had been on her car for years. This was after I pulled the sticker part off and just the residue was left.

Re: Honda Civic

Nice work, should have taken off those tacky clean air stickers while you were at it. Hehehe

Re: Honda Civic

I asked about taking them off and I thought she was gonna punch me! LOL!! They are needed on the car so that she has access to the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane. They are a pretty big deal here in California!!

Re: Honda Civic

Great work. Those waterspots were nasty!

Who makes this "Secret Sauce?"

Re: Honda Civic

Kaval: I posted about it on the Tundra that I did. I was out of ideas for polish that would cut through all the $hit on the truck so I decided to wetsand. Then I couldn't get all the sanding marks out!! I had tried OC, OP, SIP. XMT4 and Megs #85. Something made me mix #85 and OP and OMG....it worked!! So now I have used it on a few cars and it cuts through everything I have thrown at it and finished down great!!

red4.8: Actually my landlord dropped by during the day, saw the van and bought it right then! It was kinda comical!! The before picture of the car has all the writing on the van and, in the after pic, it's all gone....

Re: Honda Civic

Thanks for clarifying that. That is an interesting combination. Funny how OP on itself isn't the greatest for correction, but mix it with something and it turns heads (figuratively speaking).

Re: Honda Civic

kaval: If you are wanting to try it, I do a 70%OP 30% #85 mix. Seems to work pretty good!!

Re: Honda Civic

Great job on the car man. Yelp? I didn't think auto detailing made it onto yelp unless it was AJ auto detailing. Haha, but you should know better about the stickers man, they stopped giving them out since hybrids are so popular now. People are pleading just to get them, even though CA isn't giving them out anymore.
