Re: Deep Gloss Auto Salon: Cadillac CTS-V in Infra-Red

Chrome Trim:

Badge and Chrome trim treated with Duragloss 501

After stripping the paint the true condition of the paint was more visible. Obviously the swirls were apparent prior to stripping the paint but it became obvious that the previous detailer used fillers as much more inclusions came to the surface.

Swirls; marring; holograms, scratches - this paint work had it all!

Paint Correction Tools:

Flex
Makita
Lake Country CCS Green/White/Blue Pads in 4”/5”/6.5”
3M Wool
Schlegel 3” wool pad
3M UK backing plate

Paint Correction Products:
Menzerna Power Gloss
Menzerna Super Intensive Polish
Menzerna 85rd
Prep Sol wipe down to ensure true defect removal

In Process 50/50’s and before and afters:

Before:

After

Before

After

Before:

After:

This vehicle had pigment in the clear coat as is displayed by the color transfer on my wool pad

Towels:
Excel Detail waffle weave drying towel (blue)
Eshine Dehydrator
Eshine Glass Thief
Detailers Domain Uber micro fiber towel

Exterior Protection/Dressing:
All trim protected with 303 Aerospace Protectant
Tires Dressed with Surf City Tire Pro
Wheel wells dressed with Adams Undercarriage spray
Rims sprayed with Duragloss Aqua Wax

LSP:
Dodo Juice Supernatural
Z8 Wipedown

Final Product (after) Glamour Shots:
*it was raining for the last few hours of this job.. It really pained me to only be able to take indoor afters.. I really wanted to see the lovely Supernatural glow in full sunlight!.. oh well, on with the show*

What the heck? There shouldn't be any pigment IN a clearcoat, or it wouldn't be very clear lol.

Were there specific sections that gave off the paint? I wonder if specific trim or something was single stage?

Yup, tinted clear. Looks very nice Jason. Are you detailing in Kansas or did you snag an out of towner? Too bad it rained, I hate when that happpens after all that work.

Thanks David... The customer is a transplant.. he works for GM and wanted to get his ride "Deep Glossed" for the Woodward Dream Curise next week....

At the end of the day when it was raining I thought to myself how glad I was that I took the sun shots I did while it was out!

Awesome job Jason. How long did it take you???

I noticed you had the car foamed. Was it hard to wash it like that in the full sun??
