Detailed:nasty Metallic Blue Acura CL-S

This car was definitely a challenge. There was a lot of water etching, insect etchings, heavily scratched head lights, and a ton of really deep scratches mixed in with the usual swirls. The toughest part of this detail was getting all the deep scratches out. There were at least 4 deep scratches on every panel. I was able to completely eliminate almost all of them. Some were simply too deep or all the way through the clear. Ok on with the process: Washed and clayed of course followed by a 3 step Polish. Total time 19hrs 22mins. I tried some different Polishes on this one. I was pretty much out of my Power Gloss Compound so I tried Optimum Compound with my Flex using a wool pad. I started using the wool pad on my Flex and I have to say it really works well. The correction ability was definitely needed on this one and the wool was easy to control unlike the foam pads that can “jump around” on you occasionally. The downside to this however is that I was not able to get away with a 2 step process. I tried to clean up the marring from the OC with Menzerna Nano Polish 106ff and it did a good job but I could still see some minor micro marring. Now at this point the paint was very reflective especially with the metallic flake but I just could not settle for any micro marring and decided to hit it with some Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, followed by the 106ff and the micro marring was finally gone. The paint was now super reflective and near perfectly corrected except for the random deep scratch that was not correctable. For protection I topped the paint with 4 Star UPP. Any questions/Comments are welcome.

Headlights were terribly marred and scratched. I did not have time to wet sand them but I didn’t really need to. OC with an orange pad on the UDM knocked most of the scratches out followed by 106ff.

After Polishing

And After:

Ok and now for all AFTERS: Sorry no daylight sun shots, the sun had set before I was finished so they are all Halogens! Maybe I can get some from the owner? I love this color.

Lastly a shot of the Roof. Now that’s Gloss!

any closer shots around the rear emblems, I'd love to see how well you corrected around those damn letters. If I were the owner I'd strip them off before the detail...

Anyways, excellent turnaround!!

I especially love this shot - keep this one forever.

Wow. That is an amazing difference. Great work.

The TL in the background doesn't look to shabby either.

Thanks Thomas! he had a huge smile on his face. He seemed blown away as I think this was the first time he's had a car detailed and he's put alot of money into the engine, suspension etc so now he has the "Show" to go along with the "GO" lol. I'll tell ya Tom I am sticking with the wool pads with the flex and getting rid of my yellow pads thanks to you my friend. Thanks for the help the other day

ha..ha..! Thanks thats my baby

I'll see if I can get the owner to send me some full shots later? Sorry no close ups of the letters. I was in a hurry to get the car done, they came out pretty good though because the letters were spaced far enough apart that I could polish the area pretty good. The badging in the upper right was more difficult. I had to take my after shots after the owner came to pick the car up so I was rushed.
