Black Charger

Sent out a teaser last week and am here to give you the money shot!! LOL!!

Got this one from the last that manages the Java City that I visit in the mornings. She had lived in an apartment for a while (now lives in a house and parks in the garage) so there were a lot of water spots from sprinklers. Once I got the car washed I noticed it wasn't swirled as bad as I thought it might be. There was some etching from the water spots but not too many. Most came out with a second pass.

The horizontal parts of the car were the worst. I started with SIP and an PFW and that wasn't cutting it (no pun intended) so I bumped it up to OC and that seemed to do the trick. It was, however, leaving a LOT of compound hazing. I knew I would have to do a finishing pass anyway so I wasn't too worried about it. The side without the water spots got SIP since there was no reason to be that aggresive with the paint.

The scratch repair didn't go as well as I had hoped but it's better than it was. The customer only wanted it to be smooth and to not be able to see the silver scratch.

I lightly sanded the scratch, followed with an IPA wipedown and filled with touchup paint. Filled until higher than the original paint, let dry, wet sanded w/3000 unigrit, and polished out w/SIP.

This was supposed to be an exterior only but I was bored while waiting for the paint to dry so I did the interior while I waited. The customer was surprised and please with the work.

Process

Wheels
Megs WB
EZ Detail brush
Topped w/DP Paint Sealant
Wells
Megs DG
Scrubbed w/Mothers Fender brush
Dressed w/Adams Undercarriage
Tires
Megs DG
Scrubbed w/Tire brush
Dressed w/Black Magic Tire Gel
This was very shiny stuff, very easy to apply and, as if this morning when I saw the car, holds true to thier "no sling" claim. Little too shiny for me but the customer liked it.
Paint
Side w/waterspots got OC w/PFW
Other side got SIP w/PFW
Both got 106ff w/orange ccs
KAIO w/white ccs
IPA Wipedown
Topped w/DG #105 x 2
Next morning got AW x 2
Interior
Wiped down w/woolite (just realized I forgot to wipe down the headliner )
Vaccumed
Cleaned mats w/woolite, carpet brush and vaccumed

Re: Black Charger

I just stopped at Java City on the way to work to get a coffee and check out the car. The car still looks good. I told her that I needed to hit it with another coat of AW next week so I would have her wash it before she came to work. She looked like I just gave her the keys to a brand new car! She says, "Well....that makes me happier still to give you this envelope". I open it up and there are 20 coupons for free coffees in it! That's almost $100 worth of coffees! So that was very nice!! Now I can get wired for free!!
