Hey Kenney, we where very careful in taping the edges so that the lip of the tape only covered the high point of the edge (it took hours, honestly). In some areas (rear fender lips) the paint reading was very low, as low as .5 mils so we avoided touching the edges except with #7 and P21s.

Thanks for taking the time to post this - especially the videos. I will admit I have made the mistake of not taping up everything properly before buffing with the rotary, and have caught an edge (I'm not too proud to admit it - LOL).

Your not the first David and not the last. The amount of taping is so dependent on the car and the type of detailing you are doing. Something like a Ferrari 360 doesn't require a lot of taping because it is so rounded as has pretty thick paint.
