Another M3 - A red one from 1995

Lets get the bad part out of the way first.

Check out the trunk - Real bad repaint gone worse.

Polishing didn't do anything to it so I wetsanded it.

First try: 2000 grit followed by 3000 grit

Second try: 1000gr followed by 2000gr

Third try: 1000gr, 2000gr 3000gr

RESULT:

At this point I gave up. I talked with Brad and Rydawg - Thanks guys!!!!!

Nothing worked. My painter guy calleed me back who has seen the car and said the trunk will need a repaint.

The rest of the detail is pretty good.

Before

The paint was in pretty good shape with the typical swirls all over but couldn't get a good picture of it. There are some deeper scratches that are still there.

All polishing done

Finished

wash
clay
sip purple wool 1700
EC purple wool as needed 1800
3M Ultra Fina blue ccs pad 1800
ZAIO white pad UDM 6
Z5Pro white pad UDM 3 paint windows trim
Presta 1500 on lips
Armorall aerosol on tires

Nicely done! This is probably my favorite body styling for the M3. Those wheels look pretty sweet too.

what a turnaround on that. The paint is dripping wet and does not look like it was washed with a brillo pad

Great work Thomas! Too bad about the trunk on that car.

Oh just so you know, there are some pics in this thread that still show the front license plate of the car.
