'99 Contour, Z06, Avalon, F-250

This 1999 Contour is owned by the parents of one of my regulars. While they were down here from Michigan, he decided to have me polish and wax it. His Mom told me the last 'real' wash was in the fall, since then it has gone through a couple of touchless washes.

I'd already cleaned the rear wheel, tire and whitewall (and both on the driver's side) before I thought about getting before shots...

During the Optimum No Rinse wash and Meguiars clay (white) process:

After:

Front tire before using Optimum's Wheel Cleaner (test version):

After:

The paint was pretty bad, I was told not to go nuts on it but to clean it up as best I could within reason.

I went with Meguiars #83 using a yellow Meguiars polishing pad @ 1400 rpm, finishing at 1000 rpm. It is the most aggressive I can currently get and end up with very minimal to zero holograms. Should be obvious which side I've already polished...

First full polishing pass with #83 on the passenger side of the trunk lid:

Second full polishing pass followed by Optimum Poli-Seal using a blue Soft Edge polishing pad @ 1000 rpm:

Not 100%, still some RIDs remained but my customer said that far exceeded his expectaions based on how it looked before.

Same process on all the horizontal surfaces, the sides weren't as bad, so they got one full polishing pass with #83 instead of two. I buffed off the Poli-Seal with the new version of Optimum Car Wax. By then, it was around 6 PM and they were itching to take the parental units out for dinner, so I took the afters in the same spot I detailed it.

2006 Chevy Corvette Z06. I take care of this one the first Saturday of every month. He's had a lot of engine work done lately-headers, exhaust with x-pipe, cold air, intake extrude honed and port matched and a dyno tune. Put down just over 560 hp on the rollers.

Washed with ONR, then waxed with the new OCW. Engine was wiped down with ONR, dressed with Meguiars Interior QD so it would look new, not dressed.

Nice job on a 9 year old neglected car. Great improvement, I bet the owners were extactic.

2001 Toyota Avalon. I've done several different vehicles for this lady, she gets something new/different every year or so and calls me out to polish and wax it. Someone had tagged (gang graffiti) the doors on the driver's side and she had used some polishing compound to remove it. Some was still left but a little Meguiars #80 and an MF towel got what was left between the pinstipes. It was otherwise in really good condition. She is expecting a child in the next several weeks so she only wanted a quick polish and wax (I guess she is saving money). Optimum Poli-Seal with a blue Soft Edge polishing pad @ 1200 rpm, buffed off with the new OCW.

===============

2005 Ford F250 Harley Edition. The owner is thinking of trading it in on an '08 so he just wanted a quick wax. Meguiars NXT by hand.

Oh yeah, forgot about the 2008 Lexus ES350. Just a quick wash and wax on this one, ONR and NXT. It needs polishing, I wash it about twice a month, but so does he, his kids, the tunnel washes and the dealer. He just never has it available long enough for me to go nuts on it-and he really doesn't seem to care all that much anyway as long as it is clean.

Fantastic details, F-250 looks killer, but that Z06 is horrible looking IMO.

I'm jealous weekendwarrior got to detail with you the other day, he and I were talking about it.

Love the work on the Contour. Really changed the looks of the car and probably thrilled the old folks. Great job on everything.

I don't think I've ever seen that done. What a great idea!
Without a doubt the tip of the week.
