1990 ZR1 Red Vette and my car

This car has 1350 original miles on it. Engine, interior, wheel wells are in perfect condition.
However the paint sure needed some tender care.

I first went to look at the car on 12.31.07. - I explained what I could do to the paint and we agreed that week after the new year I'd polish the car.

Well, I haven't heard anything until a couple of days ago ( I thought maybe he didn't like my personality ) and I was asked to only polish the rear half of the car.
The owner after claying the car was satisfied with how the front half of the car looked.
That was fine with me. Today I showed up at 4pm and checked the paint.
The rear was definately is worse shape for sure.

Not only were the imperfections deeper but it also had a milky layer under my sunlight which didn't show up in the pictures

I am at a loss what it was. The rubber molding was also acting weird. Could not get the tape stick to it for anything.

The owner is a huge fan of Rejex - that is what was on the car, but I don't know anything about it.

Maybe it wasn't applied/removed correctly???

In any case rejex is one tough protectant. At first I had a hard time with sip/op and even Ultra Fina. All of them were hazing up the first panel. Anyways, this is what I did.

Sip white pad 1800 rpm
Sip white pad flex
Ultra Fina flex blue pad
Ez Creme Glaze udm white pad
========================================
Zymol will be the protection on it from now on. (He has several jars)

About half way into the detail I was told that I was definately coming back to finish the car.

He ended up really exited about the finish.

BTW, this car will be at some major shows this year.

Not too many pictures I am afraid. But once the car is done, we will take ouside shots. (next Saturday)

Before

After sip

After Ultra Fina

Finals - no wax yet

Nice job on the ZR1, love how nicely UF finishes out.

Your car looks pretty good too...I hear ya on the way you have to work your own car in. I finished mine a good 30 minutes after sunset today.

I can't wait to see the end result on the ZR1. It is looking good.

Good to see that you had a chance to spend some TLC on your car. It seems so often with good detailers, they are so involved with their work that their own ride gets left out in the cold.

Yours is looking fine. Remember, we gotta see the finals on the Vette next weekend! Please!

The Vette is looking good Thomas. Your car on the other hand (well, if you can't say something nice, then say nothing).

Nice job on both cars!! What a great winter we are having here in VA.

Awesome work Thomas. I had no doubt the owner would want you to work your magic on the complete car after seeing your work. I can't wait to see the completed pics.

Nice Job! Maybe the reason he's driven it soo little is that its never looked as good as it will when you are done with it!

Love the MKIV! I love that stretched-tire on a wide wheel look. Must be a ***** to keep lower panels clean tho eh? You should post up some pics of the Golf in your avatar, looks hot!

Looking good Thomas!

That ZR-1 is going to be worth some big bucks some day! I can't believe it's only got 1,350miles on it. Does the car have all original paint? Great job.

Your car looks sharp all cleaned up too. I love that color. Galactic blue, correct?

Looking good, funny when biz comes it's so hard to get to your own car. How is that CMS light? Is it worth the money compared to say Halo's/Handhelds?
