Re: Bella Macchina: 07 Maserati

LOL! I like the comparison between brian and a pirate! Ile have to bring him an Eye patch! lol

Was it a stick or that automatic manual (whatever maserati calls theres)? And todd, i will never forget the day that i was detailing a BMW M3 and the owner was showing me the mods on his car by revving the engine (it did sound quite good)... all of a sudden his foot slid off the clutch at a high RPM in 1st and he did a burn out.... on grass... lol. He just lauphed though, so as i was about to leave i saw some grass seed and put some down and watered it for him. He is probably my favorite customer even though he only gets his M3 done once a year.

that black looks DRIPPING wet! Do you use any force whatsoever besides the weight of the makita on that 3-3.5 inch orange pad?

A little bit of pressure at first, then I "lift" the buffer slightly so that the pad isn't as compressed for the last couple passes...

Thanks for the kind words!

On the pic of you polishing the black door molding with the orange pad.. can you really remove swirls and light scratches? I believe it's plastic?

You guys are geniuses. Really. To know products and paint that well is truly awe inspiring. I mean, to have gained that much experience and expertise in any venture...amazing. Plus, you seem to take the best photos of anyone on the board. (no offense to the other good photographers!)

One question...if this is truly the softest paint you've encountered, how do you counsel the owner on how to care for it? Does his only let you guys wash it? Does he simply come to you guys for a full detail every two weeks? (You mentioned several times his perfectionism.) I mean, if the tail of his tux brushed across the door while getting in the thing, he'd have marring, yes?

Re: Bella Macchina: 07 Maserati

Glad you guys posted this. I had no idea this car had such soft paint. There is a local owner of the same model/color that may want a detail this spring. Helps me know what to expect.
Hope you are maintaining the car and no hacks wash it.

The owner has a detailing service that I have instructed (or tried too) teach proper washing techniques. Being that I will see this client every month for work on his various collection, I will monitor the process and marring in this paint, and correcting as necessary.
The paint will be 100 percent impossible to keep perfect, so it will need frequent minor polishing to keep it up.

I will maintain this car until he gets a new one. Brian and I invested a little bit of our hearts into so I will make sure it stays as close to perfect as possible!

AWesome work. Did you use OP in the polishing stages? Guessing the Menzerna & UF blows it out of the water in shade.

I think every polish has its goods and bads. Brian assures me that the "new forumla" optimum is a little weaker then the previous version, so it kind of has lost its place. It doesn't seem to have much more cut then 106ff and I cannot get it to finish as nice, though Brian, who has more experience with OP, can finish extremely good.

The reason it is one of the pictures (which is why I am assuming you asked) is as Brian made his way around the paint, the pad would stick (SIP is made for harder paint and can grab at softer paints on occasion) so OP was used to "cut" the SIP and keep it slick.

Thanks!
