Antique Chevy Pickup

This truck was just purchased by my friends father. I forget what year it is. I think it's either a 1940 or a 1948? He is an old gear-head and is really into his cars. He's also has a 1949 Chevy sedan that I will be detailing in the near future.

The paint is about 10 years old on this truck, so there were a few chips on the front of it as well as other imperfections that are expected for 10 year old paint. It had a lot of unfinished areas from whoever wetsanded it back in the day. It was really tough to get in all of the nooks and crannies, especially around the rear fenders, but I had some 3 inch pads that I used on the end of a cordless drill that worked pretty well in getting in the tight spots. I had to do some of the areas by hand.

It came out really nice for 10 year old paint!

My process was:

Wash w/ONR

Cleaned tires and wheels

Clayed with Adams clay bar

Buffed complete exterior with SIP using yellow wool pad

Buffed complete exterior with Optimum Hyper using yellow foam compounding pad

Buffed complete exterior with 106ff using a white polishing pad

Buffed complete exterior using Optimum polish/RMG mix

Collinite Insulator Wax by hand

Aquawax wipedown

Topped with Natty's Red by hand

Super Blue dressing on the tires and wheel wells

Werkstatt's Prime on the wheels

Opti-Seal on the exterior glass

Complete interior detail

Brian, sometimes I enjoy working on different style vehicles. It usually takes a lot more time and effort, but the end results really make it worth it. You must be really sick of detailing all those Lambos, Bentleys, Ferrari's and other exotics all the time lol!

The guy actually runs the local hot rod club, so I should be able to get some other cool cars to detail.

Re: Antique Chevy Pickup

Thanks everyone.

It's definitely a cool truck. It's actually got a drivetrain from a Camaro in it. Whoever did the fabrication work did an amazing job. I would personally change the style of the wheels to make it look a little nicer, but everyone is different!

Re: Antique Chevy Pickup

Man, that's a pucker factor job with all the curves and aftermarket paint.

Great job Rick, do you have an ETG or did you just take it easy on the edges?

I did have an ETG, but it got run over by a Ferrari

I really need to buy another one. It's not something I used on every car, but I was very thankful to have it on certain jobs.
