Spiffy new exhaust tips and a coat of Carnauba Moose on my Maxima

The original owner neglected to properly care for the exhaust tips on my Maxima, even with polishing they didn't look all that good. I decided to get some much nicer stainless steel tips and have them properly welded on at Kinney's Mufflers in Bedford (the high performance custom exhaust shop in the Dallas area) so they lined up perfectly and would be very difficult to steal. I picked a pair of Pilot Motorsport 2.5" diameter tips.

You can see them from a few different angles in the first few pics (just washed, had 2 coats of Opti-Seal then an application of the new OCW each wash after for a total of 3 applications) in both shade and sun.

I thought this was a nice reflection shot:

I wanted to add a bit more depth, so I put on a coat of Clearkote's Carnauba Moose. Even with a non-black car now, I can't get away from my love of carnauba depth

My paint is noticably darker when the sun hits it at an angle...and it also makes the stone chips in the hood more noticable. Oh well, getting it repainted in the spring anyway.

Scott, new tips looks good, but have you ever tried 000 or 0000 Steal Wool. It works great on rusted, oxidized and corroded tips and chrome and such.

The factory tips were toast. Nothing was bringing them past a dull shine. Plus, I have no intention of spending $600 on a cat back for 3-4 hp. I'd rather get headers and the y-pipe (which means no pre-cats so I'd need an O2 sim to pass inpection) and get some real power. Nicer tips subtly convey a performance image without having a loud exhaust.

I do get more looks in traffic.

My Chevelle was the one car I've had that women went crazy for, to my benefit.

Re: Spiffy new exhaust tips and a coat of Carnauba Moose on my Maxima

You can put the CMW over OCW without issues? The chrome tips are a nice finishing touch; very clean. My father got tips on his new BMW from the dealer but they are no longer chrome. They are a silver powder coat. On his old BMW's they were always chrome. I'll have to snap a pick.

Speaking of picking up chicks in cars - I drove my father's new 2008 BMW 328xi coupe to the dealer to get the plates on Saturday (they had to mount the front plate bracket) and this woman in a fur coat, sun glasses, skin tight jeans and those Lugz boots looked at me in the car and said "That's hot." So I said "Who me or the car?!" She laughed and said the car.
