06 Porsche 911 C4 in Basalt Black

I did this detail a few months back, but didn't post it up because the lighting isn't the greatest and it is hard to tell from the pictures how well the car actually came out. I believe the color is called Basalt Black. It has lots of metallic which looks awesome in the sunlight. It's actually more of a dark gray than black. These pictures were taken on a gloomy day, so the car doen't look as deep as it did in person. I will be detailing again next week, so hopefully I will be able to take some full sun pictures up and add them to this thread.

This car belongs to a friend if mine. He doesn't get to drive the car very often, so it stays in pretty good shape. He gives it to me every 4 weeks or so for a general cleanup. Since it was new, I have only done minor scratch repair on a few areas and have not had to buff the entire car until now. The rear bumper was recently repainted by the dealer, so overspray was on almost every panel. There was also some acid rain etching on the roof which I will have to take care of another time.

The Process:

Washed with FK wash and Wax

Cleaned wheels with Trans-mate Green Monster non acid foaming wheel cleaner

Cleaned tires and wheel wells with Trans-mate Kleens GP cleaner

Clayed complete exterior with purple Kar Kraft clay bar

Rewashed

Wetsanded a few areas of the recently painted rear bumper to remove slight orange peel with 2000 grit

Spot-buffed wetsanded areas with 3M Imperial Microfinishing compound using a yellow edge wool pad

Buffed complete exterior with Optimum Compound/ using a yellow foam mild cutting pad

Buffed complete exterior with Intensive Polish using a yellow foam mild cutting pad

Buffed complete exterior using Final Polish II using a black foam finishing pad

Werkstatt's Prime by hand

Deep Finish Deepswax X 3 by hand (first 2 coats 6 hrs apart, 3rd coat following day)

Zaino Z8 wipedown

Zaino Clear-seal on exterior glass and wheels

Super Blue dressing on tires & wheel wells

From these pic's the 911 looks great and the shine from the sides of the 911 are great! The 3 coats of Deep Finish Deepswax and the Z8 with ZCS makes the difference after your great correction process you did, Awesome shine and refection on the hood makes it perfect Rick! Can't wait to see it again after your magic!........

Rick it looked deeper than that? Awesome work as usual! The C4 looks fantastic. Can you share more on the wheel cleaner you used?

How do you like FK's wash and wax?

I just started using the wheel cleaner. It is a new product by Trans-Mate. It foams when you spray spray it on the wheels pretty decently. I let it sit for about 45 seconds and lightly agitated with a brush. Works pretty nice. If the brake dust is minimal, you can spray it on the wheel, let it sit for about a minute and simply rinse off with no scrubbing required.

As for the Finish Kare Wash and Wax, I really like it. It's more of a wash that you would use for cars that have been freshly detailed. It really makes the paint, glass and chrome shine after using it and beads water nicely. It doesn't have a lot of faom, but works well. Probably not something you would use on a really dirty car that is getting a full detail. It's more of a maintenance wash I guess you could say. I just used it because it was all I had at the time. I use it all the time on my own car.
