Re: My first headlight restoration.

Polish with Glare. Missed the pic of 3M Perfect-It 3000. You can see the results of the 3M Perfect-It 3000 as I smear the Glare.

Re: My first headlight restoration.

great job! looks good. remember for future, you can go as low as 600 grit on them when sanding. necxt time try going 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then polish out. you'll get amazing results. but looks very great for first time!

Re: My first headlight restoration.

I will try that. Do you use a orbital sander or by hand? I have noticed some wholesale kits its done all by hand and they have three different grades of sandpaper. Never looked into what they supply for grades. I'm going to check with 3M for some lower grades. Thanks for the heads-up Barry.

Re: My first headlight restoration.

Excellent job of your Headlight restoration. I have used both HL restoration wet sandpaper by hand and the 3M kit. I personally like the 3m Kit.

Re: My first headlight restoration.

Hey Dave that looks good man! My story is similar to yours, I watch and study the process for weeks til I had the confident to do it and I was surprised of how well everything went.

I never bought a 3M kit. I used 1000, then 2000,
polish with Medium compound/Yellow cuttting pad
then Light compound/yellow pad
then Merzerna PO85RD w/ white pad.

and it worked for me.

Re: My first headlight restoration.

Nice job, bud.

I just did a headlight today for the first time (ran out of time to do other and fogs).

By hand:
800 grit wet sandpaper
1500 grit wet sandpaper

By drill, preforming an IPA wipedown before each step
OP using LC 4" Orange (light cut)
OP using LC 4" White (polish)
KAIO using LC 4" Gray (finish)

Came out perfect.

I'd post a picture, but photobucket is being a pain...

EDIT: I won't hijack your thread, so here's a link to it.
DOUBLE EDIT: Changed pad. I was mistaken on one of my listings.
