A tree and a Lexus do battle!

This customer was pulling out of his driveway and didnt know the back door was open.

Now not all big dents like this can be repaired using the PDR method. So don't go calling your local PDR guy telling him that you know your train wreck can be fixed because you saw a guy do it on the internet. No dry ice or suction cups were used in this repair.
The repair took a little over 4 hours.

Before
the damage goes from one end of the door to the other. You can see a scuff in the finish that had to be sanded and polished as well.

This is what the repair looked like 1/2 way through. It is a little wavey and bumpy. Can you see how we use the lights reflection to read the dent?

This is the finished product.

we save this persons factory finish as well as a few hundred dollars.

That's impressive Ron, I would have thought "repaint" on that body line!

The total cost to the customer was $300.00
This was a real bargain for them. I try and get 100.00 per hour for repairs.
I didn't think I could fix it but a shop that referred this customer to me challenged me to do it.

Usually big dents don't pay well for time spent. Most seasoned PDR guys stick to dings and dents because they can be repaired fast allowing you to do more volume.

Chris,
The body line was inverted and I thought that it would not comeback in that area.

Re: A tree and a Lexus do battle!

Awesome work. I had a PDR guy come out and fixed a TON of small dings and one large ding. Spent a total of about 7-8 hours over the course of two days on the car. I dont think he thought it would take as long. Spent about half that time working on the one big dent, did everything for like $390. Car is, or was, perfect. Right as he was leaving, a neighborhood kid hit a tennis ball into the air, and it landed right on my hood, denting it. I almost killed the little bast ard.

Dang, that is a great job. I didn't think PDR could be so successful on something that severe.

Re: A tree and a Lexus do battle!

Very nice save. I wish more PDR guys would take on these larger dents. If I wrote for PDR on these dents every body shop would laugh.
