Streaking....

As you know, I used my Paint Guard this weekend. Great product, but I did end up with some streaks. I know this is from overapplication, but I am just looking for some tips to avoid this? Smaller applicator? Car looks good, but a decent amount of streaks. This will be corrected tomorrow when I wash it, but I am just looking ahead to the next coat!

Thanks!

Re: Streaking....

I just try and work to the rule of 2 sprays to prime the pad and 1 spray per panel, with perhaps 2 for a big bonnet. Its really hard to see exactly where I've been on my silver car but at least i dont get any streaks or drying problems. I plan on 3-5 layers anyway so should make sure I get 2-3 layers on every area o bodywork, even if I underapply in a few areas.

God luck.

Re: Streaking....

Go back to the car 1 hr after application of the PGP, and use a MF cloth to even out the streaks.

Takes minimal effort and will leave a perfect finish every time.

Works for me!

Re: Streaking....

I did my other car today, a big SUV, and stupidly used a little more product thinking it was bigger etc. Well, its a very dark grey pearl and now shows a few minor streaks in a few places after 5 hours drying time, but a quick wipe with a MF and a spritz of the Ultima GD removed anything very easily. I left one patch just to see if it goes by itself over night....

I've tried leaving a streak or two, but can still see them in the AM - so now I always even-out with the MF towel after 1 hr

Re: Streaking....

I'm just giving a light buff with a MF mitt an hour or two after application. I'm getting better with the application, too!

Re: Streaking....

I'll be trying my Ultima kit on my own car this weekend. There has been a lot of talk about streaks with the PGP lately. Are you guys buffing with a dry MF or spritzing the MF with the QD spray?

Tried just the microfiber and it did not work as well as I wanted. So, I started using the UQD with the microfiber and streaks worked out...

I should also mention here that my car is Oxford White so that minor steaking does not show as much as it would on a darker color..

I use it dry, but only wait 30-60 mins after application before I buff out the streaks.

Seems to work just fine
