Ultima thoughts

[This may sound weird buy maybe David or someone can help

Alright first off I have a black 2003 Mustang that I have maintained mitiquously since it was new. I have used the Klasse Twins products on the car since then and could never be happier with the results it gave.

So I hopped on the board to buy some more Sonus and Klasse one day and all I hear about it this Ultima stuff. I did my research about it and even talked to Lynn about it for like an hour.

Ok so I bought the sample kit and this is my thoughts

Steps

1. Dawn wash
2. Clay Bar
3. Dawn wash and dry
4. Went over scratched with coumpound and foam pad by hand on like 6 diff spots on the car
5. PPP with portercable and Sonus SFX 2 foam pad on speed 5
6. Wiped whole car down so there were no smears
7. PPGP which I put on to much and it didnt dry even after like 20 hours and I had a hell of a time getting it off
8. Wiped whole car down again
9. PPGP this time like 2 pumps per panel and like 3 on hood and i could barley see it go on and I rubbed it in good

And thats it

My thoughts are

Pros
1. Amazed on how easy the stuff went on
2. Feels amazing after 6 days so far

Cons
1. The car doesnt look as deep and wet looking as I expected. I can only describe it as it looks like it has more greyish color in it.
2. Doesnt hide areas where I went over scratches by hand like the Klasse does

If you go to this tread I was expecting to get a shine like this guys Porche

http://autopia.org/forum/ultima-red-...-frontier.html

Since the way he describes his car, He says the car is an 03 and has been well cared for. Well mine is also 03 and I am just anal about my car so I expected something like, but like I said I didnt get it.

Alright so this is what I was thinking. It seemed like the PPP went on great and gave great resualts after the application.

My thinkinking is maybe the bottle of PPGP is not right. Maybe iI recieved a messed up mixture of the stuff.

The stuff when applyed does not disapear like they say. If I apply it like they say to is just turns to haze marks even after 20 hours. And also I read the you can see it disapear realy good on black cars.

Even when put on lightly I have to rub it in very well to the point were you dont see it anymore on the paint which makes me think im just soaking it all up in the applicator otherwise I will get haze marks meaning it didnt disapear.

And it doesnt smell like anything like I have heard. The detail spray smells good and that is it

Someone please help because I would love to use this stuff because of its ease of use over Klasse and the results it is saposed to give, but something is worng with how I am applying it or what I think to be is something wrong with the product I recieved.

I will post picture late today of the car and of my product. The color pf the PPGP is like water with grey in it almost milky looking.

Thanks
DAN

Here are the pictures. Notice the first 4 I took today and are of the ultima

Notice the last pictures is not with the same camera one with less pixels actaully and is of the Klasse Twins products earlier this year after detail?

The wheel picture is a good one to show the paint around it and how much depth you can see in it and also how it looks wet

The shine is amazing and reminds me of like P21s but as you can tell there no wet look at all and it looks like the paint has the color grey in

Tell me what you think

Re: Ultima thoughts

my guess is you used way to much UPGP, I just wipe on and walk away, no heavy rubbing. I dont rub UPGP in I just wipe and keep moving on to another section of my car!

Re: Ultima thoughts

Hi Dan,

I really appreciate this feedback.

It sounds like you preped your car very well. So, it's really difficult to say what might have caused your poor results.

What was the weather condition when you applied the product? Was your car 100% dry when you applied Paint Guard Plus?

Re: Ultima thoughts

Yes I was in a garage and the temperature was about 60 degrees

Yes the car was 100% dry

I dont know as everyone and Bwalker25 just said that you shouldnt have to rub it in a just walk away. If I wipe on and lets say do 2 horizontal swipes on the hood on the same spot and leave, it leaves haze marks and doesnt dry??

Im not really sure

I posted some pictures of the car and also the PGP itself to see if maybe the color or somthing doesnt look right

I really want to use this product and everything I have heard about it is saposed to be awsome but i dont know why it isnt working for me?

Thanks
Dan

Re: Ultima thoughts

The 4th pic down, is that how much PGP used for one application on your car?

If so, my guess is you used way too much...I used about 1/3 of what you used on my 4 dr Accord.

My thoughts exactly as far as application/streaks go. I've used that same amount on 10-12 cars/trucks. However I am pretty seasoned as far as WOWA products, (OS, CS, UPGP)

As far as the looks, I guess its subjective and as far as your pics go, the stang looks NICE!

IMO, Ultima doesn't look astonishingly different than other similar products, it sounds like you had reeeally high expectations and the product may not have met or exceeded them. FWIW, its tough to base a product look on pictures considering the impact of prep on the end result

Re: Ultima thoughts

Well I was expecting high expectations because everyone has been saying this stuff is way better that klasse about how long one application lasts and also how much better a shine it gives? Like I said I talked to Lynn for like an hour and she convinced me that it was really better than klasse and that she had a black car too?

For as much as I used in the picture I would say I used 60& of it on my first application which I know I used way to much 25% for last application and the last 155 I did my mototcycle with.

Re: Ultima thoughts

I don't know about other issues, but it looks like you used too much. I did my minivan twice and my Lexus GS 3 times, and I didn't use that much total.

I haven't had any issues with it not drying. I've been very careful to use it sparingly. In fact, I had backlighting at an angle and tried to see that it was slightly "oily" looking when applied.

Thumbs up Re: Ultima thoughts

My thoughts on ultima is that I am very impressed. I did have streaking problems in the beginning until I figured out I was using way to much. I have only tried 2 other sealents The Klasse sg was nothing buit reflection and a pain to remover. I also tried the FMJ but that lasted maybe 3 weeks in the summer. So I mainly used soveran all summer for the looks. I now have about 7 coats of pgp on my java black 07 rr sport. I have never felt anything slicker. Also it make the metallic paint really pop. The one product that really didn't make a difference was the QD. Now I plan to add a coat every month because its just that easy, and maintain it with prima hydro. The best synthetic qd/spray wax in my opinion. I promise to post pictures this weekend.
