It rained on my PGP.... will it cure OK?

OK, I did the car completely with PPP using my UDM, and it looked great.

Then we had a very light shower, so I wiped the car down, and when completely dry, applied PGP as instructed. It was on the car probably 3 hours in temps of around 16-18 deg C, and looked dry, when the rain started....

It has been a reasonably heavy shower and the car is soaked. Will the PGP have cured enough to resist the rain and stay on OK?. It beaded well, all over the car, and I'm planning a 2nd coat in the morning for extra wetness ( ) anyway, but really wondered if this first layer will have set up correctly, given the water.

Appreciate any answers.

PS It was looking very glossy and reasonably wet, and so far impressed with the ease of use of both PPP and PGP. Easy on, no issues buffing and the PGP seemed to be great with no need for wiping.

Re: It rained on my PGP.... will it cure OK?

My guess is that after 3 hours it has cured enough to be OK. However, I would be afraid that just drying after the rain, not washing and then drying, and then putting UPGP, trapped all contaminants in the rain under the sealant. If that is true I would strip it and redo UPPP + UPGP.

Thanks Zoran

I certainly hope I dont need to strip it and start again - it took me a good 5 hours to do the car this time!

I have a sachet of the Ultima wash so could simply wash it tomorrow and then top up. I was assuming at the least a rinse and QD before another layer, but hope this will be good as a base?

*I* think it will be fine. If you plan to add another coat and assume that the first coat didn't "bond" then you will have at least one coat. Maybe add a coat in a week or so.

The car is going to sit on the driveway for a week anyway, as I'm in the US on business, and i had planned for a wash and another layer once i got back, ready for some serious UK winter salty roads and weather!

Hoping to decide if the finish is good enough to buy full bottles on my trip next week - still no way to get them over here.

Whoa, whoa. I'm no chemist. I just think that as long as he's adding another coat that he will be protected.

Oh, I see we might be talking two different things. I have no doubt he will be protected, I was just wondering what happens when there is contamination trapped under sealant?
