Which side of Elastrofoam to use?

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me which side to place against the paint for the Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System? I was just about to start on my car and it struck me. Directions don't say and I'd hate to use the wrong side and mess up the paint. My guess is the "rubber" coated side but it is only a guess.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's the rubber-coated side that goes against the car. Just glide it over the car and don't press too hard, and used the included lube. Make sure you wash the car well first.

Re: Which side of Elastrofoam to use?

I was just coming in here to ask the same question... glad i searched first.

So yeah, i agree... i think the instructions need to state which side needs to make contact with the paint.

Does anyone have any experience with how this works in comparison with the typcial claybar? I won't be using mine until next weekend. The wait is killing me!

Re: Which side of Elastrofoam to use?

And how did that turn out?

May i suggest something? How about a rubberized side in a birght color for the sake of seeing the dirt and for the sake of seeing "this must be the side going to the paint".

I find it really hard to see how used something is when its black or dark in color.

Re: Which side of Elastrofoam to use?

Why cant you throw a rubber side on BOTH sides of the pad! That way the consumer will get twice as much??? seems logical to me to do that--come on David

Re: Which side of Elastrofoam to use?

Oh, sure, make it totally difficult for me. Okay, here's what we will "try" to work on in 2008:

Size and shape. Cutting the Elastrofoam round seems to offer better control and prevents the edges from lifting, allowing the device to last longer.

Color. We're not sure if the rubber can be colored yet or not. As it comes in its liquid form, it is black. However, we can use colored foam of different density.

Before we commit to making anything new, we need to sell through the 10,000 units we had made.

I read about numerous posters on here who wash and clay at the same time and therefore do not need lube. After the 10K are gone, any thoughts on just selling the Elastrofoam Block w/o the lube?

We are thinking about it. My concern is making sure that proper lubrication is used. Not all wash soaps a slippery enough.

I used the Ultima Paint Guard Wash Sample that came with my autopia order as clay lube. UPGW provided very nice lubrication for my Sonus Grey Claybar and the claybar didn't "crumble" in the UPGW like it did in my Meguiars 62 wash. If I hadn't dropped the !@#$% clay, I would be able to use it again.

Anyways, it is a nice wash, I think a little better than the Sonus Shampoo which I also like.
