Applying PPP with UDM - newbie ?

First post on here having recently got my UDM & Ultima sample kit over here in the UK

Can you please give me some details on the best way to apply PPP with the UDM, as a base for the UPGP eg which of the SFX pads would be best, UDM speed settings, approx work time, how large an area can be worked in one go, how long to leave before removing etc.

I have a new'ish Saab that doesnt need any paint correction, but is wearing several layers of Zymol wax that will need to be removed.

Sorry for the lst of questions, but this stuff has travelled half way around the world so I want to get the best out of it

I dont know the Sonus pads but I used the PPP with a orange LC CCS pad and it did a great job of removing some light swirling. I would not go beyond a medium cutting pad but thats just me.

I was wondering if a finishing pad (SFX 3) is enough, or do i need a white SFX 2 polishing type pad?

Also, is a medium speed 4 on the UDM sufficient to do enough of a clean and polish?

Again I know nothing about the SFX pads but I kicked the UDM up to 6 when I did it. Dont worry about that you are not going to hurt anything going speed 6.

Re: Applying PPP with UDM - newbie ?

OK, just tried it on a few panels....

2 small blobs on an SFX 2 white pad. Dotted on the paint, spread on speed 2 with med pressure, then followed the intructions using a medium speed 4 with light pressure only, and worked it 5-6 times.

Results were a VERY squeaky clean panel. Didnt really see any difference in finish to the panels still covered in Zymol Glasur, but clearly a good clean finish.

Put some UPGP on the 2 panels polished so far, but not sure if I got it on properly, as it was VERY hard to see where I had been on a dark silver colour. Tomorrow I'll finish all the panels and go over the entire car again with UPGP, to make sure those panels were properly sealed.

So far, so good
