(Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

I yet have to put UPGP on my car so I do not have experience with it. In http://autopia.org/forum/ultima-red-...tml#post991286 post WilliamHBonney reported that he thinks UPGP does not have the pop he is used to and later "its just that it wore off so quick. After about 3-4 weeks the shine just was not there anymore"

So, those of you that did try it have you experienced the same or WHB is alone in his findings? And WHB, what you would go back to to get shine that you are used to?

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

I've been across the country and back with an application on the hood of my mini-van and the shine is very much still there. It was applied the first week of July.

Hi ZoranC. I initially really did like the pop that the UPGP gave but now its just not there. I did my mother in laws maroon 2005 Nissan Murano and it looked great. 4 weeks later I was over and looked at it and though that just doesnt look right. I asked if she was washing it and she said that she once took it to a no touch wash. I washed it and it beaded but nothing near what it was that first week. She asked me to apply something that lasted longer. Obviously she did not know that it was meant to last much longer.

I applied a coat of Zaino Clear Seal over it and that brought the pop and shine back. Obviously I cannot tell you durability at this point.

I know I bagged on it earlier but I have been seeing good results with Opti-Seal. I gave it to the kid across the street and I have seen some of his vehicles and they are looking good.

For my personal vehicle I go ZAIO, Z2Pro x3, ZCS Z8 and then ZCS again. A long process I know but this is a hobby for me and I enjoy the time with my car. It releases stress for me. Some smoke, do drugs, drink (I drink on Saturdays) I detail. I clean and organize things. Well that and sex but thats another forum.

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

UPGP is holding up fine at the 2-3 week point for me so far. I checked my brother's van today and both the OS and UPGP side are very noticably slick and look great.

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

No noticeable loss in slickness on my test panel. I'm on week three...

For those that are testing or keeping a close watch on the product, are you maintaining it with any QD at all? Or are you just doing a simple wash?

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

Simple wash and not using Ultima wash to boot. No QD used on the hood but I *have* been giving it a shot as a stand alone sealant.

Simple wash, either Meguiar's gold class or P21s Shampoo. NO QD's at all.

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

So I see consistent reports of no issues with WHB reporting different experience. Any wild guesses by anyone what could be contributing to differing experience?

Re: (Diminishing) shine of UPGP?

A fouled bottle of UPGP. Quality control seems to be difficult for this brand new product so I'd put my money on that.
