Ultima Paint Prep Plus--removing

Dont think i have read this anywhere but does th UPPP remove all the other layers of wax and sealant that has been put on your car?

I have a few coats of OS on my cars and I want to make sure I clean my paint down and get everything off before I hit it with UPGP?

Yes UPPP will remove everything leaving your vehicle ready for UPGP.

Re: Ultima Paint Prep Plus--removing

In my very limited experience UPPP has been very finicky, gumming up very easily. Final result was worth the effort, paint was squeaky clean, but getting there was an exercise in frustration. Therefore personally I would not even try using it to strip paint from wax. I would strip it using something else and then do UPPP.

Not stripping paint---just trying to get all other wax/sealent products off

If there is an easier way--lets hear it guys---then Ill prep using UPPP

Re: Ultima Paint Prep Plus--removing

Wouldn't a IPA wipe down/wash remove any wax?

And that is exactly what I was talking about, stripping paint of the wax. It is next to impossible to make such mistake

Yes, easier way is called solvents. Like Prepsol, or HT Prep Wash. I used Prep Wash few weeks ago to strip car of two coats of JetSeal 109 and CG 5050.

You are using too much then. I had the same thing happen to me, decrease the amount that you use.

Best part about UPPP is that it has nice defect removal capabilities depending on the pad you use. It took out swirls witha UDM and orange pad that I could not get out with Menzerna 106FF and an orange pad.

Yep, too much Zoran. It takes a really small amount to cover a panel and once worked properly will remove easily.

If you remember using too much was what happened first time I called you about it. Once I figured out right amount it went fine on panels that were already completely clear of previous wax (rear panels). On ones that had previous wax (hood) it was gumming up with same amount. Once I stripped hood of previous wax (with solvent, took few passes to take it all off) same amount of UPPP was not gumming up, worked like a charm. Loved the result.
