Re: Layering and Topping Ultima Paint Guard Plus

Got it.

Lynn spends her day on the phone and in Live Help chats helping people. She was instructed to tell people that our sealant products should not be layered with other products. Frankly speaking, you're always better off starting with a clean surface.

I created this thread to address the questions we're getting... can it be done? Yes, it can. For best results, we don't suggest it.

Re: Layering and Topping Ultima Paint Guard Plus

Thanks for clearing that up David.

While I believe that disseminating information in one venue that conflicts with information in another will cause you problems, I do appreciate the fact that the audience here is a little unique. My 2 cents....not that you asked for it.

Re: Layering and Topping Ultima Paint Guard Plus

It would be impossible to have a complete discussion with every customer via the phone or by Live Help... This audience has the opportunity to ask me, the product manager, direct questions. I will answer them directly.

What I don't want to do is create factually incorrect information as a means to sell more product. I don't like being fed the BS, and I know you all don't either.

Re: Layering and Topping Ultima Paint Guard Plus

What I dont get is there is this little video thing in your post, DB, about how it fills imperfections, who wants to fill?

Not me, I eliminate imperfections, not fill them, and your ultima paint prep also eliminates imperfections rather than filling.

Why the emphasis on filling?

Re: Layering and Topping Ultima Paint Guard Plus

Because UPGP will, apparently, fill nanoscopic imperfections. David has said before that it'd take numerous layers to fill in what'd you remove through polishing, but for super super fine marring UPGP should fill it out.

Besides, the way I see it, if I'm going to polish out every imperfection, it wouldn't matter either way whether a LSP has fillers or not. Also, there're people like me who would rather not spend the time getting a deep scratch out with my random orbital and would rather fill it instead (I won't stand for filling out swirls though...) A polish with fillers, however, would upset me.

Of course the polish is, I think, supposed to have some of the UPGP in it, but there'd be so little that I don't think it'd make much difference in hiding marring.

#1 - For longer paint life, and deeper looking paint, the less you thin the clear coat through polishing the better.

#2 - Polishing takes time.

#3 - UPGP fills micro fine scratches that even the finest polishes available leave in your paint.
