My Car and My Ultima Experience

I'm pretty new around here, but I've been doing quite a bit of reading and learning from this site in preparation of getting my new baby, my 07 IS. She's the first car I've owned that I took more than just a passing interest in my washing and appearance techniques.

Granted, she's only 2 months old and has <1000 miles on her, but she is my daily driver (all 3 miles to covered parking ).

Steps:

NXT Wash
PPP applied by hand 4 weeks ago
x3 coats of PGP (one a week...skipped one week)
x3 coats of TTGP on the tires (1 on the wheels)
Ultima Detail Spray + after every wash.

Now you'll probably see some spots where I went too heavy with the PGP. I applied it the night before, but I don't think the weather conditions are optimal for drying (high 90's and 70+% humidity). But even those streaks were gone by that afternoon.

And a picture of the tires/wheels for those looking for a shot of the TTGP:

Very impressed with the shine and wetness on your car, the tires look great too. So how do you like Ultima?

Re: My Car and My Ultima Experience

I like it. I was a little worried about the price, but I think it's worth it after seeing the results. Very easy to apply...biggest problem so far has been putting on too much. And even then, the product is very forgiving.

But I don't have a lot of experience with other products, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

Re: My Car and My Ultima Experience

DoubleT, I agree with your findings on Ultima, I too often go overboard with my application and Ultima streaks go away all by themselves..Other products I have used I had a lot of issues with streaking and looking "smeary"....Anyways, the IS looks great! I hope you are enjoying it.

Re: My Car and My Ultima Experience

Just remember to apply very thin, like almost all products on the market.

Very nice... Did you treat your wiper arms with Tire & Trim Guard Plus?

Re: My Car and My Ultima Experience

Very nice!

When I first got the Ultima line, I deliberately overapplied the sealant just to see what would happen. I decided that if it worked that way, I wouldn't have to worry about overapplication from then on.

So, I sprayed it directly on the paint, wiped it around with the sponge, then walked away. Next day all the streaks were gone, and it looked great. A wipe here and there with a microfiber cloth and all was well.

So, unlike with other products, you really can't go wrong.
