Could you compare the swirl removal capabilities of Paint Prep Plus to the Sonus polishes? Is it comparable in cut to SFX-2?
Thanks,
Tort

Tort | Tort, the PPP polish really relies on the pad to determine how much cut it has or does not have. Using the UDM DAS ScratchBuster pad, the PPP polish will go after swirls and fine scratches and polish out 100% clear in a single step. When used with a light polishing pad, PPP is as gentle as a lamb. Sonus SFX-2 does not have the same range of use.
We're working on an advanced swirl removal polish for the Ultima line that will have more cut (a lot more) than PPP, but will still polish out 100% clear.
When you use PPP, you will also notice that it does not go to powder (or if it does, it takes a long, long time!). This is due to the Polycharger sealant base. This is the reason some people have a tough time wiping the film off. If you stop buffing with a heavy polish film remaining, and you allow it to haze, the Polycharger starts to set and gets pretty hard. You need to buff to a fine film or wipe it off while it's still wet.

Thanks for the info. God seems to have moved his heat gun away from Omaha for this weekend, so I'm looking forward to doing a full Ultima detail on one of the family's cars.

The following weekend (25th) I have another '69 Camaro restoration lined up. The last one was black, this one is red, and I've already convinced the shop to let me use Ultima. I love working for these guys (two brothers and dad) . . . their shop has A/C and a lift, and they treat me like royalty when I'm there. It's good to be da king.

People are loyal to brands and they see what they want to see and feel what they want to feel. What I can tell you is that, to my eye, PGP is much slicker and offers a deeper, wetter-looking finish that Zaino CS or Z-2 PRO.
I'm assuming that when you tested against Zaino that you used ZFX with the Z2pro. The pics I've seen of Ultima look good but in my experience after hitting my car with a rotary and a wool pad it's the polishing that really brings the paint to life and the sealant is just frosting on the cake.

That's why our prep step is a polish. PPP puts one hell of a shine on any finish.
