Ultima VS Opti Seal?

Has anyone done a side by side comparison between the two? how does the gloss and durability compare? Based on my experience with some of the Optimum products(although they are good) I suspect that Ultima is the better product.

Re: Ultima VS Opti Seal?

Not that price dictates performance, but based on the cost difference alone between Ultima vs. Opti-Seal, Ultima better be the superior product between the two.

To be honest, I never considered buying Zaino before due to its cost. But due to Ultima's price premium, it's actually turned me off and pushed me towards the other guys. I'm not trying to put down DavidB and I wish that his products become a success, but I feel that at this point in time, the products are overpriced, at least for me.

Ive used both and used them side by side. Ultima blows it out of the water, there is no comparison.

+1 I just did a full Ultima well atleast PPP and PGP on a car and I would have to agree. The Ultima line is A+ stuff Opti-Seal is a great product as well but it is best off as a sealer on top while PGP will outperform it.

Nah, I dont do pictures 99% of the time. Too subjective and there are members here that doctor their own pics.

Re: Ultima VS Opti Seal?

Im gonna have to say ultima...the slickness and gloss is great! Durability is still under testing.. I have 2 layers on my black vehicle, and the slickness is still through the roof.

Take the challenge... wash your car with Dawn and watch the Ultima finish laugh!

While I do not understand what doctoring by others might have to do with you I do understand why one considers pictures too subjective. Still I was hoping you would have some if one is that clearly superior over the other, plus personal impressions can be as subjective as picture, if not more.

So, I guess in that case I will have to count on person behind the statement.

With that in mind, SpoiledMan / a.k.a. Patrick / Scottwax, did any of you try them side-by-side and what are your findings?

Re: Ultima VS Opti Seal?

*I* only managed to get OS to "lay down" and go away on one car. I promptly sold him the bottle. My van had some OS on the passengers front fender and from all indication it's dead and gone. It did look good when applied but it simply gave too much streaking for me on darker colors.

Ultima has been across the country and back and looks and feels just applied. I only put in on the hood and used AW on the bumper to see how each would hold up under the bugs and rain/heat across the lands. It was a PITA to remove the bugs from the bumper while the hood(much hotter panel) took just a little more than usual effort to get clean.

When I get time I will be clearing out the "other" LSP's and carrying a much lighter bag to boot.

Re: Ultima VS Opti Seal?

Chris, thank you for sharing! As you already know from my ranting to you over the weekend I will be probably stripping wax from that black Supra thanks to that water spotting party pooper. This time I might go with UPP even though car will be going up for sale if it will make my life easier maintaining in the meantime.
