I would also like to see a comparison; I've got an informal test currently going on my hood.
I have all three and as soon as I get some time I am going to run a test. Hopefully by next weekend.

I did it but I never wrote anything up. I been really lazy lately and got kinda turned off on Ultima after poor results on a few cars.

Sounds good, are you going to do all three on hood, and then compare or ?

Yes I am, the only flaw that I have in my testing is that I was going to prep three spots on the hood with UPPP, ZAIO, and ???

I dont have any other Optimum products other than ONR. Should I just use some Menzera 106FF or should I leave it as is or maybe KAIO, or JWs PS?

I just dont want people to ***** about the surface prep. Now that I think about it I only have my rotary because my UDM got sent back and my new one will not be here until Tuesday.....

Thoughts on surface prep?

That's what I was thinking as well. Do it for all three WHB, that way you have equal prep for them to apply to.

Yeah I can do that but to be fair it does say that you should use the UPPP to get the best results.

If that's the case, then buy 4oz of Poli Seal from Patrick @ Excel Detail. That way, you have paint prep for all three. Here's the link for ya: Optimum PoliSeal (4oz)

Only $5.00 and you can do a side by side by side test of all three product lines. I would even repeat the same test on the vehicles that you found Ultima not to last on. You never know, it might have been the paint that didn't respond well to the product.

For example, I did Clay/ZPC/Z6 wipedown/ZFX'd Z5 (x2)/Z6 Wipedown/Z2Pro (x2) on a Nissan Altima (2004). It was driven for three months in the Northern California. When I saw it at the 3 month mark, the Z was DEAD. No beading, no shine, DEAD. Yet, on a 1997 Civic that I did Zaino on, the beading lasted well into 4 months. My guess is that some products work better on some paints more so than other paints.

Re: Ultima Paint Care Challenge

O.K., I got my Ultima Sample Kit yesterday. Today I decided to do a little test. I polished with OP and divided my hood in two with tape. On the driver side, I further polished with Sonus #3 Final and on pass. side with UPPP - all polishing with a PC. Diluted IPA wipe after OP, but just MF towel after the UPPP. Then I applied UPGP on the pass. side and Optimum OS on the driver side as per instructions. The OS is crystal clear and the UPGP is slightly milky in the bottles.

Of course it's way to early to tell anything about longevity of product, I do have some initial observations. The PPP which was next to the tape and consequently didn't get polished out as much as the rest, set up a bit and needed to be removed with a dampended MF - took some rubbing. You definitely don't want to let this stuff sit around and get dry. I could see a whole lot of work if it is applied too thickly or let set up. Opti Seal goes on a bit easier than the Paint Gaurd Plus - I used the recommended MF covered foam for PGP and the foam for OS - both by hand, of course. It seems easier to tell where you've been with OS. Both flash dry.

To my aging eyes there is no difference in the look of the two products under halogen lights or outside in the sunlight. They both look good. The only difference right now is in the slickness. UPGP is slicker - feels very nice.

I will apply another coat of each after 12 - 24 hours and then fill you guys in on what happens with updates on beading, appearance after washing, etc.

For paint cleansing, use a polishing pad. To remove *minor* defects, you can use a SwirlBuster pad. I've been able to remove very light marring with that combo.
