I would love to try this highly regarded product in the future! thanks |
The best way to understand Ultima Paint Guard Plus protection is to understand the technology.
The polymers form a film thickness about 100 nm in depth. The cross-linked molecule size is much smaller. That means any substance that wants to get through it has to be much smaller. For most liquids, getting through is like trying to thow a basketball through a chain link fence. It's not going to get through.
This is why washing with Dawn dishwashing liquid has little to no impact on our coating, but it completely removes other sealants. The detergent molecules are simply too big to break through. Over time and a dozen or more washes, the detergent hammers away at the coating enough that it significantly dulls it and it looses its slickness.
The question of paint etching has a lot to do with how long you leave an acid or an alkaline on the finish of your car. If you leave it on long enough, it will etch. If you care for your car finish regularly, you won't have a problem.
In terms of bonding, all I can say is that depends on what it is. One of the Ultima partners, Sam, drives state-to-state on a regular basis. When he gets back to South Florida, after a week or more on the road, his truck is covered in insects. The dried on bug slot washes off with little effort and the finish is still slick as can be.
