I tried Ultima again a day later and had streaks again after using less of the product. MF buffing did not remove them.

The product is a great idea, but It seems in my case that it is not worth it. Not because of the money, but because of the worry that the streaks will stay there and ruin the pain of my new vehicle. It may be my color (dark gray).

Id love to get an answer so I can use the product on a regular basis. Its a great premise, if it works properly.
I have experienced streaking under several conditions:

1. Using too much product (product will eventually dry, but can take more than 48 hours)

2. Water on pad or car. Ultima PGP does not like water. If the pad has any water on it at all you will get streaking.

3. Applying in back and forth motions. We have found that applying in a circular motion works best. This is contrary to what we originally published in our manual.

Re: Ultima FAQ

Thanks very much. I wondered about trying circular but I did not want to deviate from the directions.

Ill give it another try when I have 10 minutes free (I love that 10mins instead of two hours)

Re: Ultima FAQ

I have had little streaking and never ever something that didn't buff off very very easily. Something is amiss here I think.

Water might be the answer... it does seem to be a reaction to something.

Re: Ultima FAQ

Why does the product description state not to wipe off the product ( Do not buff off or wipe)
Then say to wait at least a full hour or more before wiping?

Re: Ultima FAQ

I hjust had great results this AM. I washed my car last night. This AM in about 15 minutes I applied it. I used circular motions and made sure the pad was dry. I drove my 20 highway mikles to work and the film was gone. So as you stated the air friction does seem to make the process go quicker.

Re: Ultima FAQ

Hi,

I did the UPPP and 2 coats of UPGP on my car a month back.
I still see the swirl marks and water spotting.

1) Can I use the UPPP and UPGP again or do I need to strip (or wait a longer) the existing coats before I can try again?

2) Any suggestions on getting rid of hologram swirl marks. I have a 2005 Altima.
If I have a scratch remover, do I first use the scratch remover, then the UPPP and UPGP?

3) Also, there are some small chip marks (like couple of millimeter circular chipped of paint on the hood) - how to get rid of them?

4) Fourth and last question - anything to clean the engine - or should I not care about the engine. I read about washing the engine compartment - never been able to dare !

Thanks for your help.

Re: Ultima FAQ

You can use the UPPP again with no issues.

Use any good swirl remover polish prior to UPPP to remove stubborn swirls, water spots, ect. UPPP will do the job with a little extra work, but it does take a bit longer than doing two steps.

The products I like under the hood are Autoglym Engine Cleaner and P21S Total Auto Wash. Both seem to do the job really well without stripping the sheen off the plastic.

Thanks David. Any suggestions to fill up the minor chips on the hood. I can see the white background since all of the paint has been scraped off where the chips are present. They are very small.
