Re: Can you apply Ultima Paint Guard Plus over a wax?

I have a 98 Infiniti I30 that I did a full detail on about two months ago, and I have done Z-CS each month since. I think it would be interesting to Z-CS one half of the car, and PGP the other half to see: 1) How it looks side by side, 2) Compatibility with Zaino previously used, and 3) How the PGP holds up compared to the Z-CS when side-by-side. While I'm at it I could prep one panel of the PGP side with PPP to see if there is any difference between that panel, and the side that was prepped with Z-AIO. It'll either be or maybe a little of both.

By the way David, a separate thread with the skinny on how to best post pictures here might be helpful, as well as some brief tips on how to best photograph the finish for us non-photographer types. I think alot of folks will be wanting to both post, and see the results of this product line, and such a thread would be helpful (and keep you from having to answer this question repeatedly). Maybe some of the folks that are good at digital media can pitch in or even write the thread, and address how to most efficiently post here without introducing problems for the site, or their email accounts. FWIW.

Otherwise we'll be subject to the dreaded...

Re: Can you apply Ultima Paint Guard Plus over a wax?

My confusion in this thread seems to be over the term "wax." I emailed Lynn/David:
I guess I need to know what we mean by “wax” – Does the term “wax” include *both* carnaubas *and* also sealants/synthetics/polymers/acrylics?

Sorry to split hairs, but I always assumed a “wax” to denote only carnauba/oils. So I thought that UPGP would play well with on top of synthetics, but not carnaubas.

My bottom line questions are:

1. Can UPGP go over KSG without stripping it? (I believe the answer would be Yes)
2. Can UPGP go over Danase Wet Glaze without striipping it? (I believe yes, too)
3. Can UPGP go over a carnauba, or would it strip the carnauba? (I believe no, but can top UPGP w/ Carnauba)

Sorry to be so dense, but I just want to make sure I do the right thing. But I don’t want to un-do all the work / layers of synthetics I’ve done with one wipe of UPGP.

Re: Can you apply Ultima Paint Guard Plus over a wax?

i never tried upgp over a nuba...although i have had good results with nattys over a fully cured layer of upgp. From now on, I think i'll use upgp as a base layer for all my nuba's - im really lovin the beading/gloss

Just heard from Lynn: My assumtions were wrong - Paint Guard Plus removes ALL waxes/protectants... I Can't use it over synthetics like Klasse or Glazes like Danase Wet Glaze without theeir being removed by the UPGP...

[Thanks, Lynn for the quick response!]
