Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

My order arrives tomorrow and I must say, I am a little dubious about the Interior Guard Plus (IGP) product.

My car is a 2002 VW Jetta GLS TDI with leather pacakage.

The dash is euro style rubber and the seats, doors, and steering wheel are hard black leather.

So far my solutions have been Einszett Cockpit premium (cleans and adds matte shine) for the dash and plastics, and I use Lexol products for cleaning and conditioning the leather.

So my questions are:

Have you tried IGP on Leather or Vinyl seats, Rubber dashes, plastic trim? What are your thoughts to look and physical feel/touch?

What did you do to clean those surfaces before applying Interior Guard Plus?

Thanks for your thoughts, I will post mine up this week once i use the product.

Re: Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

Update: Well I'm dumb, I didn't realize that Ultima had an Interior cleaner called Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel.

I think I ignored it because at first glance I thought it was just upholstery cleaner because of the word shampoo.

I would like to order it but need something else to justify the shipping.

I dont know if I should hold off on my interior till I can receive this product.

Until then the only cleaning products I have is Einszett Cockpit Premium for interior trim and Lexol Leather Cleaner spray for the seats and leather trim.

I think I might wait until I can get this Ultima product so at least my results will be easy to judge.

Re: Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

Use any cleaner(s) you wish to clean your interior. Make sure the surface is dry before you apply Ultima Interior Guard Plus.

Allow the interior to dry for an hour or better before use. If you can allow it to dry overnight, even better.

You will notice a huge difference in how your upholstery feels. Not slick, but very soft.

Re: Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

you don't think that the "sheen" Einszett Cockpit Premium adds will interfere with Ultima?

I guess my main worry with interior and exterior trim sealant is that unlike the PGP product, you can't polish out mistakes. I need to see the sealant in action I suppose, I keep imagining it to be like your pouring liquid plastic onto a surface, and that liquid traps everything underneath it when it dries.

Also, my car has some sticky spots "mostly drink splashes" and overall gets really dirty like anyone else who commutes 60 miles a day.
Are you completely against the idea of using rubbing alcohol to clean the interior, even if it is just this once, to prep for sealant?
I know it dries out things but wouldn't sealing with Interior guard within a few hours negate any drying?

Re: Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

Will this interior Guard plus interfere with the breathing of the leather seats?? It doesnt clog or Seal the pours does it? I dont see how it does not seal it up--as thats what the product does.

Have you done extensive testing on leather seating surfaces?

How do people that have used this product like it so far??

I have an extensive background in leather, tanning and leather treatments. Let me offer a little information that will help.

First, all modern automotive leather upholstery is split, milled, dyed and coated with a thin vinyl coating for protection. With that said, the natural moisture in automotive leather is trapped and tends to remain for many years. If you look at most seats, you will find a thin vinyl between the foam and the leather. This allow the leather to slip, to avoid wear, and provides a moisture barrier.

Leather beathing... like "paint breathing"... is a thing of the past. We all need to change how we think.

When you protect leather upholstery, you are protecting the vinyl coating. So, that means all interior surfaces (leather, plastic, wood trim, aluminum-look trim and vinyl) can be treated with a single product.

We did extensive testing on interiors with the Ultima products before release. We primarily tested new vehicles, but also a few older models.

In my own home, I have a pair of 1930's Deco club chairs. I have been using the Ultima products on these chairs for more than a year. They have not looked or felt better in the ten years that I have owned them. Plus, the dye stopped coming off when I cleaned them.

Anyway, I thought that info might help.

Re: Ultima Interior Guard Plus experiences?

I used them on the TL that I detailed a week or so ago. Pictures of the interior are included as well.
