topping ultima paint guard?

Are there negative side effects to topping Ultima Paint Guard, more specifically with Natty's or Megs #26? I currently have four layers of Ultima on my car. Thanks in advance for replies.

You should have no bonding issues with a nuba over UPGP.

I think UPGP looks fine the way it is.

Just add more.

Re: topping ultima paint guard?

See, the thing is Natty's and #26 are just sitting around. And, I have an itch to put something on. I don't have money to spend so I won't be purchasing DWG or anything else new for a while. The Ultima looks pretty good by itself but the slickness diminishes which could be due to the fact that the car sits outside 24/7 exposed to the elements and I only have time to wash it no more than once every two weeks. But like I said, there's a sense of accomplishing something everytime I put a layer of wax on. Oh, I also don't want to use up the Ultima, which I only got in the 4oz sample.

So a carnauba won't hurt the Ultima, how about a sealant like UPP? Also have to use that up. If my parents' cars didn't need so much prep to use those products on then I wouldn't have this itch.

Re: topping ultima paint guard?

I have two layers of PGP on my Mazda Mx5 and the car looks really fine.
I did a test on another car and I put again two layers of PGP and one of carnauba. The shine is really good.
So, I think you have to test yourself!
I think the final result depends much on the colour of the car.
Probably PGP+carnauba is better or dark ones.

Re: topping ultima paint guard?

I think that mixing carnauba and a sealant might negate the benefits of either product. Sealants are clearer while waxes are warmer. IMO I would keep with a sealant/glaze combo or use a carnauba with a FK425 topper to keep dust from sticking to the wax. Wax is an amazing dust magnet.
