Between UPGP layers..... how to prep?

I'm a detailing procrastinator. I've had the 4oz sample package of UPPP, UPGP, and UQD for about 8 months or so....

And I didn't read this forum before I started.

1. I washed the car with Dawn and did a clay bar cleaning.

2. I washed the car with Dawn again.

3. I applied a layer of Klasse AIO ('cuz that's what I usually do), and quickly wiped it off. No UPPP ('cuz I have no Porter or the like, and I'm too effective a procastinator to get one yet).

4. With almost no wait, I applied a layer of UPGP. It looks GOOOD! It is 90F and low humidity here by the Los Angeles Tarpits.

So now for the questions:

1. Do I HAVE TO wait 12 hours before the 2nd layer? Or is 6 hours likely to be "good enough" on a hot dry day?

2. The car is under cover but not in a garage. What do I need to do to prep it for the next layer?
a. Just dust it off?
b. Use a quick detailer? If not the UQD, would the Sonus Acrylic Spritz QD be OK? Or the Meg QD? Or just a damp microfiber towel?
c. Or do the whole wash routine? Is the AutoGlym shampoo mild enough (2 caps in 5 liters)?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions to an Ultima beginner!

I would wait 12 hours.
Why not use the UQD since you already have it.

1. Thanks. I'll wait.

2. 'Cuz I'd like to use up some of the Sonus Acrylic Spritz or Meg QD first? But for a thorough test, yes, I should use the UQD..... For reference, however, I'd like to know if there are any compatiability issues or cautions.

I was told not use meg qd, it has a detergent or something like that and it strips or weakens upgp.

Re: Between UPGP layers..... how to prep?

I'm in the same situation....the truck(F250 crewcab) is too big to fit in the garage. What I did was wash, clay, UPPP, UPGP. The following week was a wash and UPGP, on the third week, wash and another treatment with UPGP. Windy conditions here lately leave me hesitant to use any quick detail for anything other than bird bombs...just too much dust and sand blowing around.

PS you don't need a machine to use the UPPP...I hand polished the truck with it, it does take a while to wash, clay and polish by hand....that is why I like using the UPGP.
