Question Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

I'm not sure how many of you have tried the Ultima Paint Gaurd sealant, but it works great! But I'm having a problem after I use the stuff and put the MF's including the MF applicator in the wash, it causes a fading of the blue MF's to a teal color. Is it just me, or are other's having this issue? I've used the stuff twice now and had the same problem both times. Of course, this won't steer me from using the stuff, but I'm curious as to why its fading my MF's? Maybe DavidB or someone can elaborate?

Re: Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

A lot of people here use it. It is amazing. I've never had that problem with my MF's. What are you using to wash them and what kind of MF's do you have? My guess is that it is something with your washing process, not the Ultima. You should be using the original Woolite. Also, if the MF's are a dark blue, you should wash them separately from other light colored MF's as the blue color dye will bleed into the wash water.

Re: Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

This is the first time I'm encountering this problem, though. These MF's have been used and washed a couple times now. I use regular liquid Tide (no softener or bleaches added, for obvious reasons). And this has only happened when I put the MF applicator in with my other NF towels; that's why I'm stumped.

Re: Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

I have used UPGP and washed both MF towels as well as the applicator afterwards. No issue with any fading of the MF. Regular Tide (and Tide Free for that matter) have a lot of additives. I use Micro-Restore or Charlie's Soap.

Re: Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

I'll change up the detergent and see if that makes a difference. Maybe its interacting with the residual on the MF applicator?

Re: Ultima Paint Protection, causing fading on MF's?

Some MF's need to be be washed several times before the dye stops bleeding into the water. This is why I stay away from dark colored MF's.
