Don't know if this should go in the regular car detailing forum, but wanted to get some advice on what to use as a paint and glass prep that will work well with Ultima PGP.
My problem car is an older Lexus. My wife used to work at a hospital and would park the car somewhat near where the campus steam power generation plant was. She has build up on it in the form of what looks like hard water spots that is very tough. I have used the Elastrofoam, and while it made the surface smooth, it didn't remove the underlying problem. All the glass is affected, too.
I ended up using what's left of my
Meguiars Clear Coat Body Scrub, then the UPPP, then a couple of coats of wax. Looked much better, but I know all of the underlying spots are still there and this is most noticeable on the windshield, side windows and rear windows. Ths week, I used 0000 steel wool on the glass. It helped but didn't really do the trick--and I know that the problem that I can really see on the glass is still underlying what is now 3 coats of wax.
Tried some Body Scrub with and orange pad on my PC on the glass. Results better but not what I am aiming for.
The thought is to try some polishing compound. Feel like I need to get a little more aggressive with the product that I clean the glass and paint with, then go up from there. I could live with the paint at this point, but the glass just detracts so much from the rest of the car.
Would I be crazy for trying something like Turtle Wax's polishing compound on the glass? I will test it first. Had given some thought to
Menzerna's
Intensive Polish and then even follow up with Menzerna Finish Polish, but didn't know if I could use the UPPP instead.
I know its hard to perhaps understand the issue without seeing it but any thoughts appreciated.
