Re: BAD UDM PROBLEMS-vid inside

I don't use my UDM much since I only work on one car, mine! With such a problem maybe with the motor brushes it might take using it for over a year for this problem to happen. What than will I need to pay money to ship back and have it fixed with a service charge? I live in Hawaii so the cost of doing this might be very expensive.

Re: BAD UDM PROBLEMS-vid inside

Guy's I am not trying to slam the UDM but there are a lot of issues on many forums about this product.
It obviously has design problems...too bad because I really liked the special deals and prices of the UDM and that it was mentioned to be a little nicer in feel and productivity than the PC. I know those that have the UDM will stick up for there choice of product...it's human nature.

Re: BAD UDM PROBLEMS-vid inside

Sure sounds like motor brushes issues. Its no biggy.
As most of you already know manufacturing is a tuff business. Everybody wants it cheap and to last a lifetime. Sometimes suppliers get bad materials. I wouldn't sweat it. It happens to EVERY manufacturer sooner or later.

UDM has shown great CS before why doubt them now?

Re: BAD UDM PROBLEMS-vid inside

They stand behind their product that is for sure.

When my UDM went out I was in the middle of a job so I am glad that I had my rotary around otherwise it would have been bad news.

Each of us should keep this thread updated with the use of our new machines. For some of us it will be too cold to start using until after winter.

Oh quick question does anyone know if the new units start with a new one year warranty date, or is it based on the original date of purchase?

Re: BAD UDM PROBLEMS-vid inside

Proper sitting of the brushes might be needed, like operate the UDM at low speed for a certain period when first switched on. If there's a problem with the armatures not turned true the brushes will be eaten up in no time. The copper communtators needs to be trued, if you just slap in a set of brushes, you will get severe bouncing of the brushes causing premature brush wear and future amature damage.
