I have read about and heard about so many issues with the UDM that I opted to just get the Griot's buffer. I am not a pro detailer and will only be doing my Porsche and BMW a few times a year and the Griot's should work just fine...plus they have a lifetime warranty and customer service is great. Good luck with your UDM issues...I'd rather have the PC or Flex if I was a pro in business.

If you were a pro you would likely be using a rotary.

Personally I dont think that just because a few of us have minor issues would be a reason to not buy one. Their warrenty is really good along with their customer service. They definately take care of their customers.

Having used both the PC and the UDM, I would much rather have the smoother running UDM and the risk of a minor issue (that I know will get taken care of if it occurs) than use the PC that has a lot more vibrations.

UDM has sure turned out to be a shoddy product thus far given all the hype. This is not the only board I have read threads on major UDM problems and I'm not talking just one or two complaints. I would stick with the PC.

Mine works fine. Could have just been a bad batch. Happens all the time across all products. At least its not lead paint on Jap toys thats killing kids.

You're not kidding! My wife just sent back a bunch of toys recalled for lead. Overseas cheapo manufacturers could care less what gets produced at their factories. How can the US compete against foreign companies that pay their employees $50 per week? It's very sad what this world has come to.
