Is backing plate too small? New UDM

I received my UDM last night. I applied the white pad that the unit comes with to the backing plate that came with the UDM and it looks a little small. I have a greater edge "lip" that what is shown on the manual cover. I compared the white pad that the UDM came with to a 6.5" LC CCS pad and my LC pad is slightly bigger than the white pad.

Is there any need for concern? I've added photos to illustrate what I'm referring to.

Nope, that's just perfect! That's the way mine is too and it works great! You wouldn't want to go any bigger than 6.5" with that backing plate, but for 6.5" pads it is indeed the right size.

that's normal ^ , some like to use a 6" backing plate instead because it gives more even coverage/pressure around the pad as shown below...
